Wood grains
« on: Mon, 07 August 2017, 21:36:07 »
U know those guys really obsessed with wood grain ?

Is that at all morbid ?   it's a tree,  but it's still a carcass..   It's like if you get really into the marbling in beef,    Sure there are interesting visual patterns/qualities,   but it's still no less an appreciation of death. ?

Something's odd here,  not sure what...

Tp thinks it's weird, but watch him find an Ergodox burned into his toast tomorrow and claim it to be proof of... Well, I have no idea what, but something.

And of course we will all just say "well, it's Tp4tissue", nod our heads and move along.

U know those guys really obsessed with wood grain ? ... Is that at all morbid ?   it's a tree,  but it's still a carcass..   It's like if you get really into the marbling in beef,    Sure there are interesting visual patterns/qualities,   but it's still no less an appreciation of death. ? ... Nonsense. Wood isn't about death anymore than food is. (Do you look at your meals and think, "Wow, this is all about death"? If not, you must not eat very much.)

Wood grain is about the infinite variety and beauty of nature, and how the most beautiful things aren't created to be beautiful, but already are that way.

This may seem an odd concept on something like a keyboard forum, where there's so much focus on meticulously contrived objects. I'm glad, though, that at least some keeb enthusiasts appreciate things like wood cases. There's an especially meaningful contrast between natural beauty and sterile artificiality that we'd all do well to keep in mind, too, as we struggle to maintain a planet capable of continuing to support us.
We are not chasing wildly after beauty with fear at our backs. – Natalie Goldberg
