8 Monitors @ 2x MSI 980 Graphics Card
« on: Fri, 26 July 2019, 06:25:22 »
Basic yes/no question I unfortunately had a lazy and hard time finding on google:

Is it possible for me to use 8 monitors on 2x MSI 980 graphics cards, NOT using sli, but the multiple monitor option?

Second question: What would you deem a BenQ G24020HD monitor is worth nowadays?

Thank you!

You wouldn't do it this way, because it's 24 inch and 1920

They sell a 50 inch for $200-400 nowadays , 4K , IPS or VA.

Each one is almost exaclty 4x 24 inchers put together.

With just 2 of those you'd get the same as 8x 24" and you wouldn't have to align them.

If you're going to sit upclose < 5 feet,  you'll need IPS from LG, watchout for RGBW models which is fake4K.

If you're over 5 feet,  you can get VA from samsung or the TCL 43' models , the 50' TCL and above use spatial dithering, so that may cause problems for certain PC tasks.

Like the Dell monitor here?

And you are able to set these up without having to use more than 1 PC?

The dell is a good panel, but you don't have to pay that much if you get a tv instead.

They work on single hdmi or dispport connection.

For TV you'll want to use HDMI instead of a disp-converter, because dispconverter probably won't give you the right gamma curve.

Alright thank you.

Actually my cousin already has the dell monitor, I guess I can try and see if I can turn it into 4 displays from a single connection. Would I need anything other than the monitor? (More graphics cards, splitter hardware, etc.)

That dell might have an internal option to use 4 connections. I'm not sure. but some business monitors have pip features.
