Don't shoot the V2!
BA-DA-BIIIIIINNNNNNNG!
Ooo HK.  Never owned one, but have always heard good things about them.

Left my guns back home while attending flight school, but I do have a pic of them:

Smith & Wesson M&P15.  Troy Industries free float rail system, troy BUIS, EO Tech 512 (which I sent in for their buypack program, Magpul UBR stock, Magpul MOE K2 pistol grip, BCM grip)
WaffenWerks Ak74 w/ Arsenal stock set & Izhmash pistol grip.  I do want red wood furniture at some point.
Glock 19

Newest toy being:

Looking at a BCM grip just like on my AR15 for this but in black.  Also looking at a Vortex SPARC AR red dot for it.  Trying to avoid spending too much on an optic, but still waiting for a good deal to nab it at ~$140.

Also ordered a Peltor Tactical 100 electronic ears.  Should have them Tuesday.

They turned out real well.  Nice Ak too.

I actually went looking around for an Ak (the $850 Arsenal SLR107R), but had no luck finding one around Ft Rucker.  Did try ask a shop employee if I could hold a Tavor SAR as I never saw a Tavor before, and that question ended up costing me a pretty penny.

Side Arm I carry is the PX4 Storm by Beretta, uses 9mm ammo. 17 rnd magazines with options for 19mag. Also can mount red dot to the pistol.

Love it, never had any problems. No jamming at shooting ranges and easy to clean. Safety switch on the side.

Than for my AR15, base stock DPMS panther rifle with a scope but want to upgrade scope to EOTECH holographic. Uses .223 rem rnds. Got a couple 30 rnd mags for it.

Eotech scope I want to get

Any plans on SBRing the pistol?  I'd love to have a 10.5" AR for some reason.  Always liked the looks of them.   Good looking AK too, I love wood furniture.

Any reason why EO Tech?  Curious, as they just had their buyback program and I sent mine back for a full refund.  Good sight, and the buyback problem wouldn't have affected me, but I didn't use it enough to justify the cost.   I've been looking at the Vortex SPARC AR for a cheap optic, and I did see a Trijicon MRO for $340 but it sold out instantaneously.

SBR=you mean the tax stamp for a short barrel rifle? This is already a 10.5" pistol, not a rifle. The Sig brace was at first accepted by the ATF, then they reversed their acceptance and you couldn't shoulder the brace, then a few months ago their logic was used against them and they accepted the brace and shouldering, effectively making it an SBR.

I'm in CA, so laws here are a bit more restrictive than elsewhere. This is considered an Assault Weapon and has all sorts of restrictions (can't loan it, transport only to/from designated destinations, securing, additional registration, etc).

Once got pulled over by a cop for slightly speeding, they took the gun from my glove box with silencer on and magazine loaded. They returned it to me after and complimented me on my firearm. They were jealous for sure.

Yeah def staying in AZ, plus you can grab a medical weed card easily here so it's a win win.

..........Good looking AK too, I love wood furniture.

The rifle is an early 90's "California pre-ban" Egyptian Maadi AKM RML with a turned down muzzle (no flash hider can be threaded on) and ground down bayonet lugs on the gas block, imported by PAARS INTL. These rifles aren't really "Egyptian" since they were built on Russian equipment, so there's a Pharaoh headdress, not Arabic writing on the rifles. It was bought along with another rifle (consecutive serials) by a Bay Area resident. When the California bans happened (Maadi was banned by name) he chose to demill the both rifles rather than register as assault weapons. Later, he rebuilt only this rifle on a NoDak Spud 100% receiver with the AK building guru, Nicoroshi, who is also a bay area resident (he published a couple AK building books). The trigger is a Tapco G2 (922R compliance), the black pistol grip is Tapco (I have an original Maadi "Nestle" brown grip, they came with brown or shiny black, hard to decide between the two colors, may buy a shiny black). I have the original wood thumbhole stock but if I put it on, I'll be convicted of a felony and go to the pokey. So the wood furniture is not original nor Egyptian, but it's so attractive I won't doubt I'll change it even though the rifle is collectable. I had a chance to get all 3 Egyptian furniture pieces for $50 and didn't move fast enough...oh well. It gets shot...not a safe queen.

It needs a muzzle brake instead of the flash hider and the stock requires a small plastic "half-moon" at the lowest portion of the dip in the pistol grip. I think this might have been legal last year, but due to the transfer it is not any longer. Since it's being transferred next week I'll make the corrections. I'm getting it from a buddy, I considered keeping it in his name and not making the corrections, but if it's going to be classified as an AW, that would bar me from "borrowing" it. I'd rather try and follow the rules anyhow, even if I don't agree.

Here's what I've always wondered:

Guns, like other precision hardware (e.g. keyboards), can be things of beauty, and there's obviously a lot of interesting history and esoterica involved in 'em.

But the attraction to "shooting sports"—where does it stop and start? Is it just the appeal of good machinery, competition, comraderie, improving strength and skills, and of course getting to wear ear protection?

Or does it have its basis in our primal desire to kill and destroy stuff, to reassure the pre-cooperative, pre-civilization parts of our brains that we have the power, if need be, to forcefully assert our own interests over those of others and survive no matter what?

I'm just wondering, you know, where it lands on the evolutionary scale, generally speaking.

Eh,

Personally,

It was having something for defense (used twice, no actual firing).

That requirement being met, for fun and "therapy".

Pretty fun going out to the remote dirt bank and setting up multiple items downwind. :p
Time at the range can be fun as well.

Therapy: Eh, So far, i have left the shooting session happier than i went in. So there's that :p

I don't own any guns (I live in the UK) but I went to a shooting range somewhere in eastern europe once and fired a glock, a magnum, an AK47 (I think) and some other thing, like an uzi or something (I know nothing about guns). I've always thought guns should be banned in the states, seemed obvious to me, and when I went to the range and they first opened the cabinet with the pistols in it felt like there was a shark in the room, a palpable sense of danger... Then when I got to shoot them, I was immediately like holy **** this is so fun and amazing I would totally buy one if I lived in the states and be well gutted if someone wanted to take it away.  Anyway, nice thread guys.

My wife and I both have our CCW here in NY. With the SAFE laws we have here, it's almost pointless having anything legal and since I'm one of maybe 50 people (excluding LEO and CO) in my county with a permit it is a real pain in the ass. Nearest range is at least an hour ride from where I live or at a LEO run range that checks each magazine for a stump.
