I actually have all of it in triplicate individually signed.

I'm sorry for the loss of your grandfather.

That's a neat rifle, what a great keepsake. Japan made a few million of those up until the end of WW2. A lot of them were rechambered from their original caliber in Korea, but it appears that is the original chambering.

Tell me, is there a stamp into the metal of a 16 petal flower on the top of it?

That's awesome. From what I could tell most of the type 99s that made it here didn't have the flower intact. Very nice family heirloom piece between the personalization, paperwork, and intact stampings.

Hey this thread is getting a little necro. I got this a few days ago just in time for this years hunting season! It's a Browning BPS 12 gauge shotgun with a 28" barrel and a 3-1/2" chamber. Mossy oak camo with dura touch armour coating. I have since removed all the horrible stickers and replaced the front bead with a HiViz Magna Comp sight to help with eye dominance issues. I'm left handed and this model is a bottom load and bottom eject so it can be used by left and right handed shooters! I'll be firing it for the first time in the next few days to a week. I'll try remember to take some action shots!

Nice.  I have a 12ga Ithaca pump action with bottom load and eject for the same reason, I shoot lefty because I'm left eye dominant but right handed.  I swear bottom eject shotguns just handle better.  I also personally prefer a pump to a semi for some reason when it comes to shotguns, but I'd still love to hear how you like that gun.

There aren't many things in this world that sound more satisfying than the pump on a nice 12 gauge shotgun.

Anyone like SAKOs? Thinking of picking up a TRG 42 or 22 at some point.

I don't have any practical reasons to own a firearm, but I've already passed my exams and if the opportunity arises, would love to pick one up and explore the outdoors.

I've been building this up for a while, but I just now got my hands on the last pieces.

Haven't gotten to fire it yet. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity before the weather turns sour here in MT. :))

Pretty close :). I was going for an SR25 look, though it's not officially an SR25 since I used an amalgamation of different parts rather than all KAC stuff.

Any California people familiar with the latest laws/regs?

One thing on my plate right now is I'm thinking about getting an AR-15 pistol, it's from a friend in Las Vegas. I went to a local FFL and they were of no help, said it wasn't possible. I think I got some misinformation.

I'd like to make several purchases this year.

Move to West Virginia:

"Today West Virginia lawmakers ignored heavy objections from law enforcement, desperate pleas from Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and common sense, overriding a veto and passing a law that makes it legal for adults to carry concealed guns without training and without permits."
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Does anyone have experience with a H&K VP9?

I'm not really into the whole Glock thing, and have always been a H&K fan. I think this would be a good first handgun to purchase and own, practice with at the range, and perhaps consider doing some IPSC competitions once I get better and used to it.

Would love to hear if anyone has a better suggestion or have experience with the VP9, more interested in hearing about the VP9. Cheers

Just spoke with two well-versed gun shops in the bay area. They both informed me the AR-15 pistol out of state "loophole" expired a year ago or last year. I like how it was a "loophole".

Oh well. So much for that.

Bought this yesterday in California, won't be able to get after Dec. 31, 2016. We are limited to 10 rounds, the 30 round was just for the pic. It's a 10.5" barrel AR-15 pistol. Never fired. No upgrades. Yea, it's twice the price as the rest of the US:

How do you plan to keep it in compliance after the new law takes effect? Don't you have to make it so it is top loaded? (no more bullet button?)

I honestly have no idea.
The actual laws/rules/guidelines are murky and won't be written until October.

It was a ballsey purchase considering the crazy restrictions coming down.

Might get lucky and be one of those that you can keep and be legal to own, just no longer able to sell.

The idea is that it will be legal to keep, but there may be additional restrictions.
No one is clear on what the actual laws will say, as they're not written yet...closer to the end of the year.
The Bullet Button was banned, they want the action of the weapon to be opened to change the magazine.
Then there's the provision that will need to re-register as an AW (Assault Weapon).
Decisions and purchases will need to be made before the end of the year.

I forked over $1,300 for the damn thing, which is twice what it costs in the rest of the country. In California we haven't been able to purchase these except from other CA residents for over a year and a half. $1,300 is about as inexpensive as I could find and I've been looking since April/May. With some upgrades they're selling for $3,000. Not a lot of these for sale...it's a pretty unique item.

PSA update for any California gun peeps:

Soooo...there's about 10 more days in California to purchase items that will be banned (evil black assault weapons of mass destruction with pistol grips, flash hiders, etc).

I've grabbed an AR pistol, AR rifle, and complete AR lower so I have 3 items to register as assault weapons (RAW) next year. I drew a line in the sand and decided these are the most likely, affordable, and easiest to keep when compared to the litany of other rifles that are affected (SCAR, Tavor, AR-10, etc). This is a California thing, not national and has no bearing on the presidential elections. It's forecast that the gun laws will get even stronger in a couple years when the next state governor is elected.

My goal now is to take some great SHOT WITH IPHONE photos of the guns. LOL

Ahhhhh...if it doesn't say "Colt", it's a COPY!  :)

One more week to consider grabbing an AK-47 (who doesn't want one of those?) or whatever before they are all neutered on Jan 1.
After that I'll focus on handguns. No time limit on those (yet).

They pushed it out another year, we can still buy our evil ar lowers of mass destruction. The deal that's gonna really suck are the new ammo laws.

People keep forgetting that criminals don't follow laws, it's crazy.

WUT???
All the rifles I see are featureless (no pistol grip or a grip-wrap, no flash hider, etc) or the "break the action open" mod.

Are you referring to the evil features? Or the actual RAW registration process? I know the serialization and registration of 80% was July 2017 but is now July 2018? It's so unclear.

I wound up purchasing an AK47 on 12/21/16 in the nick of time! And fortunately I built a few 80% the last week before New Years and took dated picks (AR-10, AK-47, Ak-74). I enjoyed that so much I'm going to build more this year, but those will be 2017 built and subject to possibly different laws?

You're right on the money (as far as I know). Our satan-worshipping thunder-rods will have to be featureless unless you register it with the white devil.

Then you can use your satanic mag release and get rid of your bullet button of death.

I'm pretty sure you can still get 80% lowers too (as you said).

I think it was just "proclaimed" that the RAW will need to keep the Bullet-Button. One of the legal-backed groups/watchdogs filed a lawsuit against the state about this. I don't keep up daily....I just catch snippets here and there.

Yes, the 80% you can make, and I know the ones I made in 2016 can have "evil features" and be RAW if I want. The question is when the cut off date is for 80% to have evil features. 12/31/16? Or some point in the near future? Has it happened already or did it get pushed back? I'm not to concerned because of what I already built can be RAW. The future builds I'm doing can be neutered if need be. I had no idea building these things could be so fun? Anybody else doing this?

I decided to build another 80% AK47 and AK74.
So I just bought a Bulgarian AK47 milled underfolder Type 3 kit. Need a milled receiver, heavy chrome lined barrel, rivet kit and a couple minor doodads.
Vereeee exciting times in San Francisco.
Almost a fun as keebordz :)
