Moral dilemma, [Halloween thread]
« on: Wed, 04 October 2017, 17:35:10 »
So, now that Tp4 = Hipster..

Should one buy vegan candy, and enforce his beliefs on others ?

OR,    Are we to maintain the status quo, and give children that generic nudge towards heart disease/ cancer/ diabetes/ stroke/ dementia..

Great question but knowing that the majority of your trick o' treaters will be kids (and some silly young teenagers), keep in mind that they're enjoying childhood..eg. eating candy, not brushing their teeth, not worrying about caloric intake (and they shouldn't unless they're overweight).

My vote is for the - "status quo" nudging towards the diabetus. I say let them enjoy their youth and grab ahold of the inevitable stroke/dementia thing.

Or hey, maybe I'm way off and your neighborhood is full of veggie hipsters handing out Kale lolipops and sheets of seaweed and they actually enjoy that sort of thing...I guess someone has to be the pioneer here. :D

The pro of taking that approach would be if you hand out healthy candy and they hate it, they'll avoid your house next year and will be less of a financial burden to supply the streets with healthy veggie candy.

I just turn off all my lights and refuse to give the children of my neighborhood candy. I mean, seriously, if they want candy, they can go buy it themselves!  >:D

A vegan wouldn't buy something that isn't vegan.

I think that answers the question :))

is there such a thing as vegan chocolate that's made with actual sugar and milk? if not you are violating these children's childhood by not supplying twix and reese's cups.

most dark chocolate bars are vegan..

Buhhhhhhh.... I don't know what's worse,   Not given them the generic childhood,   or pushing them along on the path to heart-disease/ cancer/ diabetus/ stroke/ dementia

I am going to go against the grain! I say give out candy's but be more picky about what types. look for candies with real sugar and with out the extra BS that most things have now days. I am not vegan and don't think giving out solely vegan substitutes/Candy's is a good idea.. but I am firm believer that corn syrups and other... overly processed sugars and ingredients are whats really bad for us. There extremely over used.. a little something is never bad.. having it in bulk is never good. I remember I love Candy Corn and its got a lot of over processed crap in it typically but.. found a brand that used simple ingredients and honey. That stuff was just ugh! soooo good.

Trojan horse... buy tomatos, empty them, put in beef sauce, glue back together = $$$ profit.

Then they say: ooohh this delicious tp you good cook.

And then you break it to them: it's meat.

Mind. Blown.
