"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

"I have received many resumes for this opening, and several candidates closely match the job requirements. While you are not a finalist for this position, we regularly work with people with similar skills and experience, so I will keep your resume on file for future consideration."

Go into work the following week and see the person they hired is fresh out of school, never had a real job before, and is vastly less qualified than you... at everything. You then spend the next two weeks training that person, imparting everything you know and have learned over the past few years. They still have no idea how do do their jobs effectively and in a timely manner. They also get paid nearly twice as much.

That's when you move on and watch them blubber.

OR!

I forgot someone did this many years ago.

You quit. That same day. give them a week before they call you wanting to hire you back and then you don't come back unless you get a 20% raise.
The person did this 3 times.

She tried a 4th time but got no call back this time ><'

Probably.  Sadly, knowing someone is often more of a factor for jobs than actual qualifications.

I can hear a weird intermittent droning sound from somewhere.

I don't think it's this computer or monitor, which means I'll probably be listening to it while trying to get to sleep.

It's sufficient irregular and of such a pitch that it will probably keep me awake all night, or at least as long as it is going on and off for.

It took me so much time to accept Britain and now this country is going straight to hell.

Your nickname is a common Russian surname, so that wasn't unexpected.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Yup. I am actually quite ashamed to call myself British after some of the stuff that's gone on in the last few months.

Your nickname is a common Russian surname, so that wasn't unexpected.

Really? I can't remember how I came up with the nickname all those years ago, so it must have just been like a randomly generated thing... Makes a bit more sense now although I've had quite good luck getting it as a username with most things.

Nah, it wasn't for me, I work at a tax and accounting firm so it was for a client of mine.  I've found that occasionally the IRS rejects things for no good reason, so we just send the same **** again and see if they will take it the second or even third time.

Everyone pretty much have vacations at the same time, that's always the case no?

It's honestly easier to just send ur kids to the grand parents,  and camp out in your own home..

I mean... think about it,  You spend all of your money, building and paying for your living space..

The Problem isn't the living space, it's prolly a great place to be,   the problem are those very loud distractions running around..

So, in principle you don't lack the proper good place to be,   you lack the quality of silence.

Sending the kids to the gramps is the ideal solution....

Can we just go one week this summer without a mass murder?

mass murder happens constantly,  for example,  for every intentional murder by islam against the west,   it's roughly 200-500 to 1 the other way around..

Most deaths, are that of the innocent.

Trying to book a romantic getaway for an upcoming anniversary and I've looked at over 20 places and they are all booked when I wanted to stay.  >:D

Happy anniversary :D

It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Not interested as he works way more than I do and is practically on call 24/7.

I mean technically I am on call but it would have to be catastrophic to get called out in the middle of the night for me, whereas he actually spends the night at work quite frequently.

Yeah **** that, it'd take a pretty serious pay raise for me to do something like that.
