Stim check
« on: Wed, 15 April 2020, 04:09:51 »
Just got a notification at 2am it was posted. Didn't think it was real until now.
So that about covers half a month of expenses for me.

Have you gotten yours yet?

Do non US peeps have something similar in place?

Got mine on Monday, so far this will cover a month but fortunately I am still working as my job is still somehow "essential".  I know we're setting aside some of that money to go towards the house we want to get in the near future.

Happy with my current card. :D

Not getting any money.
Also they're slowly opening up the country again as far as I can tell on the ramblings of people around me so that's going to be great.

No country should really open-up.  At least 6 months to 1 year. Very possibly 2.

The OTHER option that's possible is Cover-Up.  So similar to the States/Countries that are not testing, and reporting straight up false numbers.

They've started sending kids to school again here (the smaller kids). Apparently the 'numbers look good' **** if I know what that actually means.

Got mine last fri. & threw it in savings. I'm still working & while I'd be lying if I said I didn't contemplate spoiling myself some with it, saving it for now & looking for someway to make the money work for me seemed the smartest move. I impulse buy stuff enough as it stands without getting handed free money & thankfully for once in my life I've been able to hold off on doing so!

Meanwhile Bezos profited 24 billion during a pandemic with his monopoly preying on suffering consumers and sellers who are desperate. Acts like he's providing this huge benefit when in reality most people have no other choice.

In the UK if you think you or someone you live with has Covid you get paid un-live-on-able sick pay from day 1 rather than day 4 while you isolate.

If you can't work the government will cover up to 80% of your pay while you stay home with no expenses which sounds great to me.

If you can work you get nothing, even if you have to go out and risk getting ill on a daily basis.  Unless a policeperson is bored, then you get hassle for being out...

My guess is, the people in charge of the system are pocketing a large percentage of the alleged expenses used to take care of the non-workers.

I meant expenses the other way - yes you only get 80% pay but you don't need to buy petrol, parking, coffee or lunch out so that makes up for some of it.

Not sure how the rich people are getting anything out of the system though banks are happily advertising how nice they're being to businesses by putting money aside to loan them with no mention of said loans being interest free or even reduced rate, so basically business as usual.

I am awaiting to buy a new GPU since Ampere looks promising, my 1080ti is doing just fine and if it struggles I just turn the clocks up.  But I am now awaiting my other-half's stimulus to come in so we can set it in savings towards the new house.

Left mine in the bank, cuz unemployed...

But just realized that, with unemployment + COVID19 unemployment stimulus (extra $600 weekly), I'm actually making more money now per week than when I was working.

Also, read somewhere that they might send out a second round of stimulus checks, so if that gets pushed through that'd be nice.

Yeah I did the numbers before I got my promotion and I would make more on unemployment, but with my promotion it would be around the same if not a bit less right now till I build that up (just got promoted a few weeks ago - but I never stopped working when this started impacting things here in Atlanta area - our governor needs a special helmet too)

Got mine the other day.
Being somewhat careful with it, bought some tools I've been putting off, used Mitotoyu calipers and a new multimeter (Aneng AN8008).

Debating a new keyboard, I have Box Jades enjoying a long cruise on the Pacific.

My Box jades had only been out to sea a week when Novelkeys got resupplied...
Who didn't see that coming.

Ordered a blank GMMK TKL just as a switch tester, still looking for that elusive replacement for the Filco.

Edit, I was looking at KBDfans, not Novelkeys website.
