Just beware, many mobos use a secondary usb controller (especially Dell), basically a built in hub.
Many hubs will not support this, I wouldn't be surprised if most ports and some cables will not either.

From what I saw with Cad (looking for pixel perfect movement at speed), even with 7700dpi, I (and the system) could barely tell a difference between 500 and 1000 polling, even while gaming with the same mouse and settings. Not saying there was no difference but above 500 I got significant diminishing returns and would often revert to 500 if I wanted longer battery life.

I highly doubt even elite gamers are going to see much benefit above 2k, especially if you leave all other OS settings on defaults.

Some "for gaming" motherboards come with a USB port not on a hub specifically marked as the "mouse port" ...

"8K" mice use USB 2.0 signals, so they should work over all cables. They just use the "High speed" mode intended for USB 2.0 flash drives instead of the "Full speed" mode intended for peripherals.

Am slightly concerned about frame-rate dip due to high cpu utilization beyond 1K.

Which is kind of weird because it's basically only marketed to the Esports market that actually chase the highest frame rate for the least input latency.
