Unamused Keycaps from MaxKeyboard
« on: Fri, 18 October 2013, 23:12:33 »
Color me impressed! I suggested they make a keycap with the unamused smiley when I bought the switch tester kit, and they actually did it! It's nice to know they take feedback seriously.

In case you don't know about the unamused face, here it is:

They're hilarious :))
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm not going to lie, I don't know much about keycap quality. I'm just excited an unamused key cap actually exists.

So, how do those compare to, say, the key caps that come with the Ducky YotS?

The backlit keys for ducky don't really have that much quality control.

Mine are fine, but you can ask itzmeluigi about that.

Yeah, mine were fine too. They were thin ABS, but there had basically no where other than shine after a full year of use. The legends didn't seem to wear off at all. I had a Shine 1 though, so maybe quality control fell off since then.
