Sweeping generalizations about Geekhackers
« on: Mon, 25 August 2014, 18:04:17 »
So let's talk about stereotypes or sweeping generalizations about our community, and to be specific the ones you and I think about each other.

I'm going to start off by saying,

Quote
I think we all get way too much mail and probably keep the postal services in business.
60% keyboards, 100% of the time.

"What the hell Jimmy?!  It was ruined before you even put it up there with your decrepit fingers."

I've recently been described as having a keyboard fetish.

Would that apply to everyone else here?

Mind you, the guy that described me thus seems to have a fetish fetish.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

um, do they tend to be opinionated ?
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Yep. I hate opening a package thinking it's something I've been eagerly awaiting and then find something boring I ordered off ebay, happens to me all the damn time.

It's one reason why I love getting packages from Bro or Bunny, no mistaking those packages :)
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

This has been a problem for me, at least when family politics came around..

I handle internal affairs like I do the internet, I'll give it straight and skip the politeness / sugary attitude.

There is a specific branch on my fam-tree that can't take it straight...  I am an absolute nightmare to them...

Imagine you think everyone thinks you're top-dawg...  then someone comes along tells you , eh, that's pretty mediocre,  and there's NOTHING you can do to stop him from saying what he said.

See, on the internet, we're all very familiar with this...  but the perpetually AFK generation simply can not deal with this fall from their own disproportionately high pedestal..

I get weird looks at the PO for always drawing on my packages.
