Latency tester (you think you fast?)
« on: Sat, 12 August 2023, 08:39:39 »
Just discovered Aperture Grille's channel, this guy's Legit, criminally under-rated.

Downloaded and played his latency tester.

Tp4 can notice 10ms worth of motion latency difference with 96%.

Will test 8ms after nap.

Tp4 highly recommends using your fastest CPU, monitor, and best mouse,

Wireless introduces stutter for this test.  Older CPUs also can not reach 1000fps on this application.

You can Hit escape, and change render resolution to 10 instead of 100 if your GPU can not push the full 1000fps.

Do not exceed 1000fps, because if you're cpu bottlenecked, it will also introduce latency.

Set CPU to 100% clockspeed.

Watch the gpu load, it should not exceed 80%, (it shouldn't if you have a modern gpu), but if it does lower the render resolution until you hit 1000fps at < 90% load.

At extremely Tight latencies such as 10ms, it took Tp4 about 30seconds-1 minute per click of back and forth, total test time about 10 minutes for the 0 vs 10ms. You should not expect to be able to complete the test quickly at low latencies, UNLESS of course your brain operates in bullet time, and you just "That Baller."
