Maybe I was too tired, or maybe that movie was so boring and story dragged too long, but I stopped watching it after 40 minutes, its was just boring. Maybe some other time in few year I'll pick it up again...

Just started Upload (TV show).. Great so far.

Man,  in theory, it makes sense that Tp4 might be an upload, cuz he's extremely limited in prospects, probably due to his low income class prior to death, so he doesn't get all the perks, as large deviations would cost enormous processing power.

In fact, this is probably the best way to limit cpu time, just put in neuro-barriers that capsize desire for the outdoors.

Tp4 watching TV in a room, is significantly less intensive than calculating a ski trip. Hrrrm...

Watching X-Men '97
It is pretty good for nostalgic factors. The animation is 'samey' but obviously better that its predecessor via the lens of modern techniques and a bigger budget. They really leave in all the boring bits though. Where as the kids show would cut out a character waxing narrative for literally 12 mins straight, '97 says **** it, leave it all in!
I do really like how it picks up RIGHT where the show left off with what I consider a big shift in narrative design for many Marvel series right around the early '90s where stories started to involve different timelines and such.

The Last Kumite (2024),

Now, supposedly this movie was deliberately made in the style of an 80s action b-movie.

Yes, it succeeds in that respect.

The HDR is really badly mastered, SDR version might be better.

Mother Instinct (2024).

Reviews bombed, but Tp4 thought it weren't bad. Some movie trope bad science, but it's pretty watchable.

SPoiler:
The script relied on the ol' chloroform makes you sleep gag, but chloroform smells almost exactly like acetone, and stings just as much, there's no way anyone gets chloroformed in real life.

Also a house mom from the 60s-80s knowing how to setup a scenario like in the film. Anne Hatheway's character lifts the chimney from the water heater, to cover for her double homicide, making it look like a carbon monoxide accident. Hrrm?

Watched, Atlas, with J-Lo.

TBH, if they had a better cast, this movie would've been alright.  It's not that J-Lo is a bad actress, she's very old, so almost all older people are decent actors,  but that's the catch-22,  they become better actors with age, but their screen presence diminishes as the physical youth cues disappear, the audience no longer cares how the acting is, they won't even pay attention.

Reviewers complained about the plot, this is honestly as good as any gundam movie plot could be in 1hr 30mins.

true, but It can make sense for king kong because captive gorillas have been shown to eat meat, so it could work if he's in captivity for any sort of time.

Their desires and vision do not extend much further than the basic cheat codes a human would come up with. Money, power, lust, status, trite affairs.

Ok, Dark Matter, don't think too much about the motivation of each character,  they couldn't possibly explain it well enough that you couldn't find holes.  Try to enjoy the good-enough setup as is.

Tp4 finds people are more/less the same everywhere, wrapped up in their own bubble of the world, but all with nearly identical logical drives, expressed more or less plainly than one another.

But then, that's just Tp4 the cognition talking,  every arrangement of atom may be unique, and so the cognition is just range biased.

The observation that Tp4 has trouble enjoying is real, there is an innate aversion to certain emotional investments, knowing that these pathways contribute to the world's problems. But Tp4 is small, he couldn't possibly know such things for certain, and so like all others, this is his delusion.

The stop motion shots look really good because there's no motion blur, everything's in focus.

Ok, this doesn't make any sense.

In the movie, the kid which is a high up gang member, controls, Angie, Kane's girlfriend after they escape Robocop in the middle of the movie. How can a grown woman with Drug urges not over power a 12 year old kid. It wouldn't matter that he had a little packet of drugs, she could just beat him up for it.

Decided to subject myself to the Ren And Stimpy Reboot.

In two words: Simply Awful... but it could have been worse

Totally lost sight of what the show was, with some heinous writing and blatantly rehashed jokes from 20 years ago. I'd not be surprised if it's cancelled before the first season finishes, because if it isn't appealing to people who loved the old material, I doubt it will find a new audience.

Strong point: The animation. Captures the original style, and flows well, with short-frames stuff peppered in addition to those patented close up detail shots.
Weak point: Billy West can't do these voices any more. His Ren is old and haggard, and he is unable to do unhinged Ren which is some of the best stuff. Second, the writing and new characters. I think the original show was basically written through visual storyboards outlining how the animation should flow. This seems built by a committee, and run through a room of writers not totally familure with the original material, or why it was so entertaining.

It's just not there. This isn't the team to do it, nor the proper way to produce a show like this.

What can Tp4 say, the main female lead looks, idk, guys, Tp4 has left the world behind for too long, but honestly, knowing full well beauty is in the eye of the beholder n' all,  but like, WTH,  out of 500,000,000 China females,   HER?

At a loss for werds.

The only plausible explanations:

1,  her acting IS in fact pretty good. Is it stellar, no, just pretty good.

2,  their Research department shows that viewers, most of which female, prefers a lead that is only moderately attractive,  closing the distance, such that they can more easily view themselves in the actress's role. that is to say, "shipping" oneself into the plot.
 ___  This is complemented by the fact that the male leads are significantly higher on the meter.
 ___  That is to say, this is a highly sophisticated, emotionally manipulative product, designed specifically for its target audience using warfare tactics..
