How do you hit the keys on a numeric keypad?

I'm especially interested to know how you hit the keys on a non-standard numeric keypad like that on an old Cherry keyboard.

i don't think i understand the question. after a tiny bit of practice you can do it super fast without looking.

index on 4;
middle finger on 5;
ring finger on 6;
pinky on enter;
thumb on 0;

I thought that's how you were supposed to use it.
