Does the Nerd 60 PCB (v2) support a split (1x1 + 1x1) Backspace?

It kinda looks like it does and it's also seems possible in the Nerdy GUI keymapper...
Would be aesome if someone could clarify!  :thumb:

I honestly have no idea but you can ask GON himself.

Edit: A quick search reveals the answer is yes:

Building a keyboard with a plate, should I cut the pegs of my PCb mounted switchs (they are gaterons if that matters).
And why should I ? should I not?

Only cut them off if the PCB doesn't have holes for them.

I am figuring out what resistors I need for me next build.

I have read a bunch of this thread: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44798.0

Here is what I have so far.

(5.05 - forward_voltage)/Amps = Ohms

The forward voltage of my LEDs are in the ballpark of 3, but I know this ranges all the way down to about 1.9 with some of the red and yellow LEDs.

I am trying to figure out how many milliAmps I am looking for.  I know that most of the LEDs 'support' up to 20mAmps, but I have heard that is crazy bright.  I think some people have been targeting closer to 6mAmps.  Is that in the right ballpark?

I am trying get an idea of how many mAmps is good for brightness on a keyboard.  Thanks...

BTW, I found this website which is pretty useful for figuring out what size resistors you want: http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz

I just need to figure out how many forward mAmps I should be targeting.  I believe it should probably be in the range of 1-6 mA.  If I remember correctly my Sprit boards had something like 2 mA forward voltage and it worked pretty well.  If I can get some validation that these numbers are realistic that would help.  :)

It was mentioned before tho that gateron switches might be slightly difficult to fit in which can for example be solved by sanding them just incase you have that issue...

For reference check the Gateron group buy thread] or some of the reviews linked there! =)

More
First off, everything about the smoothness was absolutely true. The blacks felt great, and the blues were soft. One thing to note though, as Zeal mentioned in his Gateron build thread, these are somewhat difficult to fit into the PCB, the problem seems to arise from the PCB mounting stabs being either too thick or too far apart, which can be solved by sanding them slightly. The plastic used in the housing seems to be more flexible than that used for Cherry switches; the clips on the tops were much easier to pry apart. Keycaps also fit very tightly to the Gateron stems, comparable to Alps switches.

According to this thread, looks like 2mA is fine.

This post might help you as well. I don't know what a normal value is but it seems like you're fine.

I clipped all the cherry stabs on my cherry board but for some reason two of them still feel mushy.  I followed blubar's guide video on how to do it, any idea of what I could be doing wrong?  Is filing important?

Great. Thanks for those links, I had not read those.

I ended up buying 500x 1k ohm and 500x 750 ohm, so I should be good to go for a while.

Every few months I need some springs.  So where I can I get some springs without having to participate in a group buy?

Was there a numpad that matched "the cheat"?

Also, does anyone know if a pink "the cheat" does exist?

Lame.

Yea, that's what they always say. Yet here I am with a "red" LZ GH.

Oh well, I didn't need to look for new stuff anyway.

I put some lube on it and it seemed to fix it, thanks!.

Another question: I see mechanicalkeyboards.com now has springs in stock, but they have the nonkorean measurements on them.  What would be a 55g korean spring, a 45g with them?

And since I managed to break one of my stabiliser during my last mod I need a replacement.  Is mouser the only place to get cherry stabilizers? The shipping is horrendous.

This how my checkout with mouser looks:

MERCHANDISE TOTAL:
 1,59 €
DELIVERY CHARGE:
20,00 €
 ORDER TOTAL:
 21,59 €

Pretty brutal.

On the springs you are most likely correct.  Korean springs are measured at bottom out, but cherry measures it at the actuation point.

Is it possible to find Realforce key sets at retail, or close to anymore? If so, where?

How can I get my hands on an OTD board? Do they still run new models, or are they mostly older ones still in circulation?

When you bottom out on MX switches, what is the keycap actually hitting? I'm guessing it's either the keycaps hitting the plate (on a keyboard with a plate), and not the keycaps hitting the switch?

It's the bottom of the stem hitting the bottom of the switch housing.

Edit: Actually, it seems that it's the underside of the keycap hitting the top of the switch housing.

Is this Hammer plate the only universal 60% plate that supports switch top removal without getting one cut yourself?

I looked at the one on GON's website and it looks like it has some shallow cuts on the top and bottom. But the notches don't look like any other plate I've seen with switch top removal or on swill's plate building tool.

GON's doesn't support switch removal. There are other 60% plates that will support it including The_Beast's.

So the multimeter reads  _0.85_ Amps on the 10Amp setting..  but I had it on 200ma setting by mistake, and it still gives me a reading, an _8.5_    , Is that a meaningless measurement?

No it's reading correctly. The markings correspond with the prefix you want the reading to be in. So on the 10A setting, you're reading the value in Amps. On the 200ma setting, you're reading in microamps. Hence the change from .85 to 8.5.

Something was wrong, .85 A = 850 mA > 200 mA limit, so I think it was a meaningless measurement, but the good thing is that the fuse was not burnt because the current exceeded the limit of that setting.

This is still a question I have no answer to. I got this red ESC from originative, maybe one profile higher? :l but other gmk escape I have is on the same profile

I'm asking cause I really want and R0/F row gmk keys on my 75% so they are easier to reach fast when playing starcraft 2, if there is indeed a batch of F row esc keys with originitive I will surely buy a whole lot of them to fill my top row :D  (Would be weird that he had F row gmk keys and I wouldn't have heard about it before though)

I am not aware of any profile differences that Sherry had made. Billnye and photekq might be able to chime in though. I do know that Sherry was fond of making some unique stuff to make his personal mark on things.

Is there a setting to make it so that you don't auto watch topics when you reply to them?

Varies mostly by weight from when I shipped out my batch of enablers.  When I got my estimate, all countries were the same based on the same weight though.  This was my experience though.  I had stuff going to places ranging from Canada and Mexico to Europe, to Australia and New Zealand.

From the US? Yes. The only exception being that shipping to Canada is slightly cheaper.

Use a pre bent one as a guide and experiment?

Excuse me, but what is the stabilizer?

I am new here and don't understand this terminology which is common in geekhack.

I've seen so many people say sth like costar stabilizer, cherry stabilizer, and so on

Stabilizers are used on wider keys like the spacebar to keep the keys from tilting sideways when pushed on the sides, so their job is pretty much as the name suggests stabilizing keys and providing a uniform feedback on the hole key. =)

Think of a non stabilized spacebar with only one switch in the middle for example which would probably tilt like hell (and eventually not even reach actuation point of the switch) if you don't hit it dead center.

A stabilizer is much like a lever on each side of the key connected by a metal rod, so technically one side cant move more then the other without a twisting on the metal rod connecting them.
Therefore even if you apply pressure on for example the very left of the space bar it should (be forced to) stay pretty much horizontal while being pressed.

In addition to FoC-ToW's great explanation, that's why the stabilizers are called "leveling kits"  by Cherry.

Costar and Cherry are 2 different types of stabilizers for MX. Cherry stabilizers then come in PCB or plate mount.

From the GH60 OP, here's a picture of them.
