What laptop backpack do you use?
« on: Sun, 13 January 2019, 14:48:47 »
I am in the market for a new laptop backpack. I switched jobs in April and previously used a briefcase/messenger.

I have a couple of work trips coming up and I need more room. What do you use/recommend?

I typically carry:

- 15 MacBook Pro and charger

- AirPods

- Portable charger for my iPhone and AirPods

- 2-3 cables

- HHHB Pro BT (in padded case I made)

- MX Master 2 (in padded case)

- Pens, Highlighter

- Two Small Notebooks and at times a textbook or two

- At least one paperback book

-Sunglasses in Oakley Vault case

- Camelbak Eddy

I have been looking at Wenger and The North Face. North Face would last longer.

I use a small all general purpose waterproof messenger backpack for short trips on my bike but just a standard laptop bag to the office.

I use a Tom Bihn Synapse 25. Best bag I’ve owned so far. It’s not much on the side of looks, but quality is incredible and there is tons of space. Bonus points for exterior access to small everyday items.

Probably won’t help narrow your search, but Chase Reeves does great bag reviews.

Some Targus bag I got from work.
It's blue and black, and that's about all the details I am able to give you.
Lotsa pockets which I use for all my work ****.
I found one that has the same design, colors are different on mine though.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I ended up getting a North Face Surge Transit in the greatest color known to man... OLIVE DRAB.

I am afraid that it may be a bit big for EDC but it will be a great travel bag.

Dude. My backpack is olive drab as well. Don't be hating or I'll turn you in for a hate crime against the most tacticool backpack design among the urban bland black & grey

I'm looking to get a new bag for my new job as I will be getting the train and carrying my MX5000 with me to and from work. I was looking at getting this off Amazon;

Only 20 pounds as well so it'll be worth it even if it's ****.

I grabbed a Herschel Pop Quiz (the medium I think?) when I was up in Vancouver over the summer.  Holds my Latitude E7450, portfolio, glasses, charger, mouse and pens with extra space for the odd thing I might have at the time (Box of pop tarts for emergency work breakfast, up to TKL size keeb to use at work, work polo I don't want to ride home in, some LPs from the local record store, etc.).  The canvas the bag is made out of seems thick enough to protect from basic wear and tear too.

I carry around the same stuff as you and recently got a North Face Kaban backpack.

More

I use it daily and it fits everything really well, doesn't have a gazillion pockets yet enough for neat organisation and it has enough room that you can use it as a work bag and still put in change clothes for a stayover or smth.

Immortality eh? I don't know if I'd want that. Seeing all your friends and family die. That'd be hard.

got a couple cool Nvidia backpacks from my brother who got to go to their AI conferences

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Nvidia-GPU-technology-conference-Grey-Backpack-MESSENGER-BAG-/153301018559

The smaller one has two compartments and can hold 3 laptops without any touching, and has two long sleeves in the front for 60% boards.
V nice.

The bigger one is better for light travel, as I can fit some outfits in it, as well as all my hardware stuff.

I've gone pretty much unnoticed my whole life, and I was just a nerdy teenager.
Didn't live enough to make enemies.  :))
I will agree with you though that there are some people I'd like to outlive. :P

Who cares when you are walking to and from work with headphones in? My attitude is probably different because I'm not single, but going to and from work is hardly the time i'd be looking to pick up women.

There's no puffy parts, just a design choice. It opens up like this...
