Dubsteppy chiptunes -
cool.
My musical taste is currently having a WTF Week, it seems.
I'm fairly certain our own
quadibloc posted this one at some point:
I tend to start whistling popular melodies while doing the dishes, and sure enough, my mom remembered it from when she was little and started humming along (not making fun of my whistling skills for a change).
Gigliola Cinquetti still had a few other hits, but it doesn't seem like she ever made it past plain pop. Shame, really.
Mom also introduced me to this beautiful
chanson of yore:
...though I'd have to agree that a slightly slower rendition like Gilbert Bécaud's makes the melody easier to appreciate.
I also got
The ArchAndroid in, and man, Janelle Monáe sure is class. Such an eclectic record, and it
works.
At the same time, my other half appears to be stuck in late-'80s/early-'90s indieland.
I also finished reading Kristin Hersh's
Rat Girl: A Memoir, and I loved it. It's not just for Throwing Muses fans but anyone who enjoys an intelligent, funny coming-of-age story. You can
read my take on it if you want.
(Fun fact: While reading this, I was actually listening to three
Alice albums. I could listen to those any time though, especially
Il sole nella pioggia.)
