Perhaps the problem is simply the lack of need.

If the job doesn't require you to lift heavy boxes, everything that bulks a person up to Be Able to lift said boxes seems like a waste of time and is demotivating.

What is a realistic fitness target that can be substantiated from a utility standpoint?

I have an exercise bike that I got 2nd hand for $25.
I ride it for 20 minutes on days that I am not planning to do anything strenuous.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

I'm back in a job which involves loading 60kg/130lb metal bars, if I could sort out my sleep and get back to cycling 17 miles to and from work my fitness would return to near it's previous peak (used to do 5 days a week now only 4 so wont be as good)

I just walk everywhere, and lift weights whenever I'm sitting around at the computer. It's enough, but not as much as I could be doing.

Felt motivated by Sorange,  went down the basement just now. 30 minute workout.

40 slow pushups
30 slow chin ups
100 shoulderpress w/20s
100 rows

felt like bout to die. got that weird taste at the back of tongue, mega out of shape.

The best goal is to find activities that you enjoy that gives you a balance of aerobic and resistance training. I enjoy my home gym but it doesn’t need to be intense training. The key is to keep the body active and not be a couch slug.292753-0

I enjoy my home gym
I thought your basement was full of cool tools and machines to make stuff and looking in the background I wasn't far off, just your basement is bigger than I imagined!

At 20 I was a weed smoking weakling, at 30 I walked to work to sit in a chair all day, at 40 I'll probably still be doing what I'm doing now so perhaps by 60 I'll look as healthy as you do but I doubt it as I have no basement :(

No basements in Southern California, no need to dig down below the frost line. I am fortunate though to have about 2000 square feet of non-living space for my passions. Keep up the walking, it’s probably the healthiest thing you can do.

The thing that really makes me resent exercise is that it takes 4-6 months of consistent exercise to start seeing any real gains aside from weight loss(technically a loss?,) and if you stop working out you lose everything rapidly in about 2 months. Exercise is such a scam.

If you look at it like some see dieting to lose weight, it rarely works. It is a lifestyle choice, that is, you need to always do it in order to have permanent results. That’s why you need to find some activity that you either enjoy or can develop a like for. It is the same with food.
