tp4 buyz an aiyima,  so reviewed, much hype.

Now, the keen eye among you might have spotted the problem right away,

The anti crush/warp washer kind of rides up against the solder joint on that smd cap, the clearance is tight, if there's a bit of extra solder there, you'd get poor contact between the sink and chip.

They really should just use a piece of tape. or heck move the screw hole.

No idea what this is but you're right, not good.  Assuming you want to keep it and the warranty is already dead as you've taken it apart file the edge off the washer and call it good?

Factory line is pretty loose and goose..

If tp4 never took it apart, wouldn't find these metal shards from the heatsink,  these are easily big enough to short the thing.

if you guyz ever become ep1( p00r and have to resort to buying an aiy1ma, make sure to disassemble and manually clean before running.

Are the red ones "banana" plug sockets and the white ones RCAs?  I might have recognised them in focus and at the front, the two-of-everything does look suspiciously stereo now you've mentioned audio though.

I was not familiar with that gear, but AudioKarma seems to think well of it for the price range.

Without knowing what is actually going on there, would a rubber, nylon, or fiber washer make more sense?

it's there to prevent the pcb from bending too much, so it has to be hard, but my point is, we don't realllly need it if we know not to over tighten. tp4 just put a little electrical tape over the exposed smd caps, and that's really it.

Got it hooked up to absolute trash speakers at the moment,, single 4" driver, basically drops out at 13k, LOLOLOL.  but you know what, Tp4 actually doesn't like high pitch sounds that much, and tbh, it's actually quite _Warm't_  despite being very low tier tech wise.  No listening fatigue whatsoever.

Still waiting for BF deals on spekrs.

There are no holes on the case.

You don't seem like the kind of person who would be aesthetically offended if holes were drilled into the case ....

Also, what are you listening to? Overheating amps? Sucking socks into woofers?

Well the sock got sucked in because of using test tones @ peak p0wr. It wouldn't have done that if it was just regular music.

As for drilling holes, don' want to deal with dust ingress and moisture. Keeping the innards _slightly_ warm is very good for electronics because it reduces internal humidity.

Put a good 50hrs straight on the amp now at high volume, just ran it in the basement 24/7 since received,  seems pretty resilient with the additional thermal pad.

It's a very clear amp, no anomalies.

Which model is it? Not that I need any more stereo gear, still, it is nice to know.

Aiyima A07, it's on sale from amazon for $70, can sustain 77watts per channel driving 4ohm load, requires some cooling mod.

ordered some elac bookshelf speakers,  hasn't hit the lowest price ever, $160 back in 2018, it's $240 right now, but that's already the lowest for a while now.

Hopefully they go a little cheaper in the coming months, return window is till January though.

$61 from Aiyima direct but w/out PSU.  I've looked at their stuff off and on due to the pricing, but something sways me to look more into Schiit's line-up.

Tp4 just doesn't see the value in going higher end for a speaker amp.  $10,000 speakers can't reproduce the flat response of cheap amplifiers such as aiyima.  Then taking the room into account, you can have the most beautiful flat amp, and it'd still comes out wobbly even with a hypothetical perfect speaker.

Can see the value of a higher end headphone amp, but tp4 has given up on headphones because of hot ears.

Thought about buying the aiyima direct, but a legit power supply costs ~$50 on it's own, so might as well just use the one aiyimi sells, because at least that's been validated, just saves a step.

To me, headphones are uncomfortable at best for any sort of extended listening, and ear plugs are worse.

My understanding of traditional common knowledge was that speakers are usually the weak link of the system.

read about laser speakers a while back, they're supposedly flat, but haven't kept up, and haven't seen any come to market.

Let's talk about Mental Illness.

There is something very wrong in Tp4's brain, that makes him want to spend $15 to upgrade the opamps, to go from Graph 1 to Graph 2  to achieve +1.5db sinad.

Tp4 has managed to stave off the VOICES, for now....   resistence is ff

Hot ears are why I prefer a suede pad and open-backs on my headphones, not a big fan of closed backs but I haven't had the pleasure of trying out some of the higher-end models.  Speakers I've had the pleasure of going to specialty stores that only deal in the high-end and have custom rooms to try out gear - best experience, just sad they are now closed (Audio Forest in Dunwoody/Chamblee area in GA).

For a very budget $320 setup, this amp + elac b6.2, tp4 is satisfied with this outcome. Not much can do about the room mod from low ceilings, but near field, it doesn't sound bad.

Yellow is with sub, blue without, this Andrew Jones guy balanced the drivers pretty neatly, he's moved to Mofi from Elac now to make speakers optimized for vinyl ?

Looking at active crossovers, why are they so expensive, yikes, cost more than the whole rig.

Of course you can't, it's been digitised and that killed the magic :p

Seriously though, I suspect the genres you listen to are immune to poor production so enjoy your CD/downloads and consider yourself lucky.

They should make a vinyl "simulator" inbetween  dac/ amp majigger, for people who would like to listen to vinyl dynamics/distortion,  but don't fancy the collectors aspect of it.
