Several years ago, when my two kids (1 male, 1 female) were somewhere in the 3-7 year old age range, I once counted 50 - no joke, fifty - single socks without mates in the "miscellaneous" laundry basket.

Ok ok this brings up a pet peeve of mine - why the hell would any sane person choose to wear a thong-style sandal over a slide-style? It's so violating, but then again I can't stand in-ear headphones either it just feels wrong.
