Thank you for not all being ****heads like the rest of the internet.

Seriously, this is a great place to hangout compared to any other forum. Yes, there's the occasional BS, but this is still the healthiest place I know of on the interwebs.  :thumb:

Agreed. This is the only place on the Internet where I feel I can talk about what's actually in my head and get thoughtful responses or at least not get negative responses.

Then again, the only place I hang out on GH is Off Topic, which consists of the same ten people or so. It feels like a different land with usernames I've never or rarely seen when I wander into the actual Keyboard areas.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.

Yeah, sadly.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

If this is your local bar (let's just call it cheers), we all know TP is Cliff, but who's Norm?

Yeah, this is definitely one of the more civilised little corners of the internet. Kind of surprising, as it's a hobby that by rights should attract ubergeeky nerds with strong and contradictory opinions.

PS: There are signatures? I must have turned them off ages ago, didn't know they existed:)

Honestly, this board and the couple of Machinists boards are probably some of the more civilized places I've been to. I think in both places people are more willing to learn and realize that there is usually more than one way to skin a cat.
Even though I think a 40% board with linear switches and flat keycaps is not for me, I acknowledge that my tactile Full size with MT3's is also not everyone's cup of tea. So at least we can (mostly) agree to disagree.

I like the off topic section here. Don’t post in it much but I enjoy reading the conversations.
