I should probably clarify

It's not that the worse computer makes this person LESS than MYSELF..


I'm merely saying,  the computer indicates we may be too different for more extensive comradery.


That isn't to say it's impossible,  Certainly , I have a friend who is a baker (food).


But the first impression is,  if his life is so detached from computers.. it seems less likely

That's fair. It's completely normal to feel prejudice, and I honestly didn't respond properly. I don't think socio-economic classes make or break friendships, but they can affect their likelihood for sure.

I wouldn't say it matters, but thinking about it my best friends all have pretty decent computers.

The last time I had any feelings about a person's choice of computer wasn't even IRL, but watching a person who'd replaced their Macbook Pro with the latest, highest-end model, only to have buyer's remorse after realizing a) certain features they liked about the "older, outdated" (2 years old) model were replaced with versions they didn't like as much (keyboard, touchpad), and b) they paid a laughably overpriced amount for it, too, which you could see they were trying to rationalize despite the specs hardly being a great improvement.

I felt sorry for them more than anything. Used to be fond of some of their hardware but it's a shame how Apple's pro range has gone downhill in various respects.
