Honestly, I think the best thing to happen to anime are the Abridged series that go up on Youtube. I'd given up on sifting through the mass of Anime in the 90s. Dragonball Z Abridged is hilarious as is Hellsing Ultimate Abridged - hell, the only reason I've watched either series is because of the Abridged series. Team Four Star need to make their own adult cartoon at some point.

My guess is it's easy to draw.. and they'd rather spend the time on the raunchy females..

I see cosplay videos on Youtube from SDCC, Anime Expo or whatever and see some cute girl in a cool costume that I hear is from an anime. Then I look up that anime and start watching ... and it is seriously perverted with lots of bloody-splattering violence.

The problem with anime is that all characters look like the same androgynous schoolgirl with bizarre hair and enormous eyes in an unnatural colour and they all save the world or universe at age 12 wielding either a sword of ridiculous proportions or some kind of over-the-top pistol.

IMHO, Rick and Morty is transcendental and represents the pinnicle of hedonistic philosophy and thought.

Despite Japan's quick advancement post WWII, they are still fundamentally a backwards culture Held down by the Confucianism of the East.

What America represents is a complete submission to the pursuit of happiness without any restraint..

And only Upon THIS journey in this way, was it possible to discover the absurd nature of our desires..

It may well be the case that most educated modern humans understand this concept at the intellectual level, but Only in a culture of Counter-culture can one truly break free from the death vines of obsolete ideology.

As far as I'm concerned, American animation hit is high water mark at the end of the second season of Gargoyles. I wanted recurrent ploits and characters, and anime is happy enough to provide me shonen soap operas that have no signs of ending after nearly two decades.
