Buying a new car is stressful...

I am about to switch careers and will travel a lot. I have been looking for a used car with low miles. Sooooo many options. Sooooo stressful.

What do you recommend?

although depending on what you call travel a lot i would second his idea for a converted van, no need to find an hotel in a hurry and consistent comfort level.
but then why low millage, you could get an old volvo brick and be set for very cheap and those thing are pretty much indestructible if you maintain a bit. (but you will not have as many confort features than in a new car, and i do not know if those are cheap outside europe)

Pretty much entirely dependent on what you can afford, your locale and your ability/desire to fix things.

Toyota/Lexus is almost always a given, Honda/Acura is good as well. In both instances look into reliability reports for that specific model though. Low end Toyota are at times "average" and on Honda quite a few have had serious A/C compressor problems. Being where you are located though (Oklahoma?) I would also recommend Ford or Chevy full size trucks, trucks tend to last, but the gas mileage may break you.

Beware Ford Focus and Fiesta if you want an automatic, MASSIVE transmission issues, but the standards are fine and they've taken a massive price hit due to the reputation of the auto, the downside to this is that it's a Focus/Fiesta. Stay well clear of almost anything Chrysler other than Jeep (and those with caution). Beware almost anything luxury or European, they're money pits as they age.

Besides others mentioned here my vote would be a late model or new Hyundai Elantra. Relatively inexpensive, 41 mpg highway, and reliable.

Hi, sorry for intervention into the discussion, I had Tucson 1.6 TDI it's an awesome car, but I wanted to have more space in the car and choose Sonata 2.0 AT, great, big and dynamic car and also cost a little more than Elantra

Honda is reliable but Hyundai has beaten Honda a few times lately, plus it has one of the best warranties. Honda will retain value better, but does it offset initial cost differences? Honda has better MPG, but our Tuscon gets better MPG than the claimed numbers. Otherwise they're pretty similar best I can tell. One thing I will warn you on is that the CRV is a major refresh focusing on tech and this can bring issues and gives dealers leverage to not give you a good deal.

Best advice I can give here is go test them both and see which you prefer. Odds are the Honda will be a bit more sporty on performance, but Hyundai will be the better value if equally equipped.

I think it'd be great if they offered a crv or tuscon with a 250-300hp motor. I feel like the weight is too much for the 160 180 190hp iterations.

then you just want a rav4 v6. great car that toyota made that gets just 1mpg worse than the regular version but is like +50hp.
op: there are many models that would work fine. you should just shop for a good deal in general instead of being stuck with one model. i'm a fan of the honda fit as a budget car
