What's your favorite candy, what do you crave?


easily my favorite candy of all-time, and has been since I was a teenager. The ONLY improvement that could possibly be made upon the Whatchamacallit is pretzel rods or nougat in the center, otherwise it's perfect.


Take 5 is a new contender, but quickly secured it's spot as my #2 favorite. Good flavors, good texture. But I don't like the shape and size, and how it's broken up into two pieces.

I do like milk candies a lot, but they hurt my teeth. I think they are literally condensed sweet milk made into taffy.

had to look that up. so it's some sort of orange goo that oozes from holes in the top? and then you lick the goo from the holes?

It says "tamarindo", so I suppose they would have tamarind flavour...

I don't really have a favourite candy. I want different things at different times.

But there are some that I definitely do not like:
• Combinations of liquorice and raspberry, or liquorice and chocolate. Neither combination is a good one. Each combination has one component destroying the other's flavour and vice versa.
Liquorice-raspberry has been so trendy here in Sweden for a while that it has displaced pure liquorice flavour and pure raspberry flavour from stores. I love liquorice fudge but I can't find it anywhere, and I love raspberry jelly candy but I can't find that anywhere either: there is only liquorice-raspberry fudge or liquorice-raspberry jelly... IF I HAD WANTED LIQUORICE-RASPBERRY FLAVOUR I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT BOTH AND PUT BOTH IN MY MOUTH AT THE SAME TIME, ****HEADS!

• Chocolate-orange. Just say no.

• Mint together with anything but liquorice or chocolate

I’ll eat anything chocolate. Chocolate is mana from the heavens. I can usually stop myself and eat a moderate amount.  However, there are 3 kinds of candy that I will eat until I’m sick

I remember as a kid getting a solid 5lb chocolate Easter egg. I could only gnaw on it a bit and couldn't bit into it. I even tried getting a steak knife to try and cut it but even that failed.

I used to get those as a kid,I put it in the freezer overnight then put it in a plastic bag under a towel and hit it with a mallet a few times,broke it up into easy to eat chunks.

If you put the knife blade in some boiling water, you can then slice through the choco no problem.

Faster, less messy than freeze + hammer.

Whatchamacallits are lit and i love the peanut butter and chocolate.
But here’s an unpopular opinion. There's this choclate bar which i love, but unfortuately i can only get it in the us.
It's called the PayDay Bar.

Why does nobody try Peanuts and yogurt though or peanuts and caramel? It's delicious!

I think that's why they make them hollow now

Nestle Crunch bars are amazing. My high school used to sell them to students for fundraising, a dollar a bar. Come to think of it I haven't had one since then. *****, that's almost 20 years ago now.

They recently changed the ingredients of Butterfinger. It tastes terrible now.

For conventional convenience-store candy, probably Snickers or Heath bars. Non-chocolate (sacrilege) I like hard sour candy, preferably citrus.

Getting serious, I want good dark chocolate in the 70%-85% range, but Dove Dark Chocolate Promises can be an acceptable commonly-found fix.

Funny factoid: listening to NPR a few years ago, in an interview with a European chocolate expert, the interviewer asked about iconic American "Hershey Bars"

The expert sputtered about how awful they are, and described them as "having off notes of cardboard and vomit"

In my family we have the tradition that each kid gets a large papiér-maché egg filled with candy. We have kept that up somewhat even as adults...

BTW. I like chocolate with marzipan and/or spirits. I know that's not for everyone.

That self control is non existent when it comes to white chocolate in any form,I can easily go through a couple pounds of white chocolate truffles in under an hour.

There's this new Crisper line of candy bars. I tried the Butterfinger one previously, which was ok but nothing crazy. To me part of what makes a Butterfinger so great is how crunchy and flaky it is, and replacing that with rice crisp subdues that.
But this Snickers Peanut Butter Crisper is really freakin' good I must say. It's similar to a Whatchamacallit, which is probably why I enjoy it so much. Like one but almost more delicate and softer in composition. There is a soft thick layer of peanut butter on the top along with the peanut butter rice crisp and caramel making it just divine. Again, it could be improved with the addition of either pretzel or nougat, but otherwise it is a damn fine entry into the candy bar scene.

Ideally my perfect candy bar would have a nougat-encased pretzel rod running it's entire length, then some combination of caramel, chocolate, and peanut butter preferably in a crisp delivery form. Possibly some sort of nut like almond mixed in there somewhere.
