Today is Wednesday so that means a new Mythic Quest episode. A neat show about a video game design studio with tons of giggles throughout.

Tp4 is torn, on the one hand, there is an infinitely deep chasm of digital distractions to numb our senses. On the other, every fraction of seconds not spent on working the problem brings mankind precipitously closer to the end.

One side, ACCEPT DESTINY, watch TV till the day you die.

Other side,  YELL at the Internet, maybe someone will do things differently..

"The 50's" never existed, it was not some golden age where everything was great.

It was a golden age for a fortunate white boy growing up in a secure nuclear family in a mid-sized American city with very good schools and very little crime, who was able to go to a very good college and manage to avoid going to 'Nam.

When I saw Neil Armstrong step onto the moon (on a black and white television) I did not realize that this may well have been the single moment when the entirety of the human race was in its most unified state - perhaps ever.

Not until I awakened to adulthood a couple of years later did I realize that the overwhelming majority of people in the world were living lives that were almost beyond my comprehension.

Bret Stephens (NYT 2025-03-10) starts with the tariffs, noting that every president since the Great Depression has correctly concluded that the ensuing economic crisis and World War that followed that calamity was attributable in large part to the notorious 1930 Smoot Hawley Tariffs.
That is, until the current occupant of the Oval Office. Until him, no U.S. president has been so ignorant of the lessons of history. Until him, no U.S. president has been so incompetent in putting his own ideas into practice. That’s a conclusion that stock markets seem to have drawn as they plunged following the Trump triple whammy: first, tariff threats against our largest trading partners, spelling much higher costs; second, twice-repeated monthlong reprieves on some of those tariffs, meaning a zero-predictability business environment; finally, his tacit admission, to Maria Bartiromo of Fox News, that the United States could go into recession this year, and that it’s a price he’s willing to pay to do what he calls a “big thing.” In short, a willful, erratic and heedless president is prepared to risk both the U.S. and global economy to make his ideological point. This won’t end well, especially in a no-guardrails administration staffed by a how-high team of enablers and toadies.
But Stephens goes further than simply castigating these pointless and destructive tariffs that Trump has taken such a pathological shine to. He explains how the fancifully created “Department of Governmental Efficiency, (“DOGE”) would be more aptly characterized as an engine of wholesale destruction. Because nothing Musk is doing is about “efficiency.”

I mean, it's a genuine concern that we are entertaining ourselves to death. If we can fill all of our waking free time with being entertained with our phones, etc, then what are we working towards?

No, ScarJo is too old for this, and getting too chubby, look at her arms, she can not hold this type of role anymore, male gaze/honey trap characters. If she managed to adhere to an eating disorder like Anne Hathaway, MAYYYBE. Of course Tp4 is not encouraging eating disorders. Merely an accurate critique of the shallow movie industry and its audience.

Miscast..

Other than that, Tp4 excite for m0ar Dinos.

I don't think Sonic 3 should get away with the excuse 'it's just a kids movie,' because there have been too many well-written, perfectly paced, and fun children's movies to name. 3 is noticeably worse than 2, even including that totally unnecessary wedding scene from 2. The pacing in 3 just feels way off, and characters are borderline manic with the way they change and react from moment to moment like the person writing the dialogue got up in the middle of Shadow's sentence to make a cup of tea and play with the dog. Maybe there was some AI involved?
Also IDK how else to describe it, but Shadow has an old mans mouth

Anyway, they are gonna **** out a new Sonic movie every year now. Maybe there will be one really great one where they go crazy in like 3-4 films from now. Maybe I'm expecting too much and shouldn't be watching Sonic movies with a critical eye at 40.

Have you guys noticed, in almost all Corean movies, they go out of their way to max out the vividness coloration.

I like color. I'd rather watch an overly colored show than the pitch black "night" scenes of most shows, specifically calling out Game of Thrones. I want to see what is happening, pixels can exist in shades other than black and slightly darker black.

I totally agree with that!

Also, I believe that background music should stay in the background.

If you guys are talking about the "Colors" of black. OLED is the only current technology which delivers this accurately.

Tp4 recommends Samsung S90F or S95F

's weird cuz real sonic games are unplayable on anything outside of CRT, so who's really that invested in Sonic at this point?

No this is a critique of TV shows and movies that don’t adjust light balance during dark scenes to indicate to the viewer night/dark but in doing so, the viewer cannot see any details because of how dark the entire scene is.

Everytime Tp4 watches a TV show, he be like, something's wrong, must double check the TV settings. Takes out color probe just to make sure.

Pretty good thriller/horror. I'm sure I've seen it years ago, but forgot about all story, so was a good watch.

Coma
Somehow this movie slipped my attention back in the days. Popular story, well executed. Old school thriller movie  :thumb:

312236-1

Premonition
Interesting story, obviously I've seen this movie in the past few times, but could not remember what it was about, none of the scenes brought a single memory, so was worth to watch it again.
Sandra bullock good as always, if you are a fan, this is a mandatory position :)

Helene (2020)..

Slice of life, a cut of Finnish-modernist Helena Sofia Schjerfbeck.

Stars Laura Birn (Foundation, Dermerzel)

Well made, falls under movies without an agenda. It's not trying to get anything out of the audience, just floating some intellectual shadows biographically accurate to the artist. The demeanor is calm and bland but Not-Vapid, this is difficult to achieve, for that one must applaud the successful entangling of the subject's profound etherealness.

As for Helena Sofia Schjerfbeck, her person, heck, sometimes genius is just self-evident/ obvious, no debate necessary.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

"The word originally referred to a variety of games in medieval Europe, which were played on foot. These sports were usually played by peasants, as opposed to the horse-riding sports more often enjoyed by aristocrats. In some cases, the word has been applied to games which involved carrying a ball and specifically banned kicking."

"The word "soccer" originated as an Oxford "-er" slang abbreviation of "association", and is credited to late nineteenth century English footballer, Charles Wreford-Brown. It has been speculated that both this story and the William Webb Ellis rugby story are apocryphal, however this appears to be a revision of history as the English term "soccer" fell out of favour while England differentiated their language from America's (where the term soccer had become widely used) English in the 20th century due to growing American popularity. "Socker" with a k appeared in print at least as early as 1889. The New York Times, published in 1905: "It was a fad at Oxford and Cambridge to use 'er' at the end of many words, such as foot-er, sport-er, and as Association did not take an 'er' easily, it was, and is, sometimes spoken of as Soccer." There is also the sometimes-heard variation, "soccer football"." - from Wikipedia

Also, American football was originally known as "gridiron football" because the playing field was known as the "gridiron" but the descriptor fell out of favor because it was cumbersome.

I watched "The Apprentice" last night. It was pretty good, and "felt" like it was fairly accurate.

It seems to me that it might be valuable and informative in helping people understand the colossal influence that Roy Cohn had in shaping Drumpf Monster as we know it today. For people who are well informed about Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s, with Cohn as his right-hand man, the amoral "steam-roller" attitude of the narcissistic autocrat is all-too recognizable, but for others it might seem to have come out of nowhere.

Although Stan does not really look or sound like his character, he does a good job with the rhythm and inflection of his speech, and some of the close-ups on his mouth are surprisingly accurate portrayals.

And Strong's Cohn is both hilarious and chilling.

Rewatched Spirited Away last night.  As a kid you don't really understand the movie, then as an Adult, you realize, OH, they're talking about capitalism.

Capitalism, fattens you up, makes you bloated/sick, to be served up as meat to the Hungry Ghost Oligarchic Cast. The Furnace slave, other resort workers, the middle class (wage slaves), support the infrastructure of exploitation.

Ruling atop it all is the Demoness Matriarch (Technocrat) in possession of the highest magic (technology of enslavement, which is our economy).

Chihiro didn't eat the bait food, that's why she survives the system seeing it for what it is, subsisting. But the system is good for NO ONE, the Matriarch is mother to a whiny gluttonous inconsolable Baby portraying the descendants of the typical wealthy class.

Just watched, The Brutalist.

It's so-so. Cinematography is so-so, plot so-so, characters so-so, acting so-so. Winning an academy award, makes the South Park reference of how Judaism runs Hollywood, all the more salient.

The current Zionist process results in a short term victory. It is uncompromising in its aim to dominate identically as the belligerent dictators/ideologues of the past.   This only goes so far, for every dictator, every civilization designed around oppression.

Once the 1970s forward wealth pump stops, and it WILL stop simply due to its nature.  The violence they've committed now will snap back, and the Middle East is a hell of a place to make your home surrounded by the 2nd most populace religion (Islam) who's been sown the enemy.

For all of America's meddling, we've truly only exacerbated things and _generated_ terror, where-ever we've been. Generations of middle-east population will remember our cruelty and murder.  The ocean protects America.  It's a unique position.

There is no ocean around Jeruselum, and unless they start making local friends, not far away across an ocean, sigh..

All the guns and threat of MORE-guns in America did not stop Putin.  The Muslim world is much stronger than that, their zealotry is far stronger than the average Russo-Commi-Nationalist.

Push comes to shove, The American empire is likely to bail, and just throw up a moron like Drumph and say, he did it, yea I want to help you Ukraine, but actually, no, see we lost the election, so sorry.

Look at it this way, who can oppose America, no one, Even if a SINGLE senator wanted to send Ukraine m0ar-gunz, they could. We make it appear as if there's 1 president in america, but the truth is, WE HAVE 51 Presidents.   The only real reason 'Murica bailed, is because well, looks at the past 5 wars we've just lost in a row after all that $$$.

People forget, our presidency is a show.  The power behind the thrown are the American Godfathers.  Remember Eisenhower's parting wisdom: paraphrase "Beware the Military Industrial Complex"

__In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist.

Who, Decided, to stop helping Ukraine, it wasn't Drumph, he's the idiot fall guy.

If Tp4 was made head leader of Zionism, He would'a tried dat buy Alaska instead.  It's still a negative money sink for the USA, produces next to nothing, not enough to offset costs anyway, and is a population of mainly drunks waiting for their yearly checks. .

Buhhh.. Guess what, climate change isn't slowing, though it's likely to kill everyone in <20-30 years, the point is, the LAST TIME we had a carbon spike such as this, there were no glaciers, and Trees went all the way up the.  So assuming we maintained a slave population of liquidators in the USA (to clean up all the blown plants),  all the rich people would have to move up to Alaska/ Canada.

Just watched No Other Land (2024), Documentary, Oscar winner.

 :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

An Israeli pacifist youth (journalist) filmed the process of Israel's illegal settlement/ forced destruction of a Palestinian village (Masafer Yatta).

The people who lived there has history of settlement going back 1800-1900s. What few structures the villagers had were bulldozed, they were forced to move into caves.

Then the israeli soldiers were taking a workman's tools and generator, in the exchange, the soldiers shot the guy, and he's paralyzed from shoulder down.

Sigh... This is Colonialism, the only way of the world mankind has ever known.   We are all slaves to the masters.  Even if we can say well, the Masters are slaves to -The System-.

This system is no longer working, and it's especially inadequate now that we're up against ecological boundaries.

Perhaps some of you own houses. Well actually you don't.  If you got sick, spent your savings on medical, and suddenly you couldn't afford the property tax. You don't really own your house,  you continuously rent it, right?

What makes someone else, anyone else, the state, more entitled to that piece of land that you've put your energy into.

In the end, all kings merely crown themselves do they not?

Finally watched Severance. The first season was great, and I happily binged through it.
Started season 2, and 2 1/2 episodes in I have completely lost interest and can't even be bothered to finish that 3rd episode.

Not sure what happened.

Hijacking the secshual gaze.  Nothing else, no substance, foolish.

I haven't seen it, but speaking as a man I must say that I enjoy seeing nudity much more than I do the "sex acts" ....

TPsych4 evaluation, witnessing nudity, fohat imagines his own prospects. Seeing the sex act, that being the conquest of another male, fohat's aversion is to the simulated cuckolding.

Tp4's preference is all cloths on, no skin shown from between ankles and base of neck,  leans in for the kiss, no kiss shown, fade to black.

Did Lilo and Stitch really need a Live Action?

My hot take: NONE of these Disney movies needed live action remakes! I wish Disney still made beautiful hand drawn 2D animation. Now all they put out are sequels and 3D garbage. I honestly cannot remember the last good animated Disney movie? Princess and the Frog from '09? Was that really the last one?

Watched some of this "Hyped" debate.

It largely proves, why Representative Democracy Does Not work.  Most humans are morons, yes, you can argue, it's our fault that they're like this, but it also means, that, once they're like this,  you can't have them VOTE, as they can not be properly INFORMED.

All forms of government have their own failure modes, but we simply can't defend Democracy, except in the Fictitious way that the current 2 party system does it,  where it's just Oligarchy with a mask.

District 9 guy is going to reboot Starship Troopers.

Hrrm... The comedy wasn't very on-point in District 9, despite it being a very good movie.

But it's not like Starship Trooper comedy is hard to replicate.

Honestly, AI can't come soon enough,

They are not making these shows fast enough.  Willing to take a hit to quality, if it means, 100 episodes a year.
