1. Logged on to GH to check out latest postings of ultra-cool dudes.

2. Checked eBay for buckling-spring bargains.

3. Talked, texted 'n' emailed with various friends / family members (including cousin who owns $1M rare car, yeesh).

4. Visualized peace and love around the world.

5. Took a peek at the NIB MK I'm giving some friends as a present.

6. Chatted with wife at our other house.

7. Arranged an old Sephardic lullaby for two accordions (somebody had to do it).

8. Had 2nd cup of coffee.

9. Walked to pizzeria for massive veggie slice + caesar salad.

10. Picked up a couple of dark German beers I'd never tried.

11. Did pop-song leadsheet for musician friend who requested it.

12. Checked GH again. Basked in knowledge 'n' brilliance of KB peeps I almost actually know.

13. Watched first couple of "The Orville" episodes. Clever, but what is Seth McFarlane, anyway? White? Asian? Both? Can't help wondering.

14. Practiced banjo, accordion (no piano at condo).

15. Reminisced about playing music at Disney parks; wished Minnie Mouse was still my girlfriend.

16. Posted this.

17. Will watch some movie.

You had me at pizza

The comment I am about to make did not happen today but I will pretend that it did so that I can adhere to this threads' description. Plus, what I did today was was something really cool and kind of a big step for me.

Last Saturday Today I participated in my first ever Friday Night Magic prerelease event. I won 4 out of 7 matches(!) and won 9 booster packs from the soon-to-be-released Ixalan set.  :thumb: It was the first time I had ever played against people outside of my friends circle and I also learned quite a bit.

I looooooooooooooove merfolk.

Sounds like fun bro!
I'm back.

After about a week of intense and ceaseless back pain I broke down and saw a doc for the first time in nearly a decade. After spending literally 40 minutes trying to get of of bed to piss, I thought enough was enough. He told me it could be up to 3-6 WEEKS of these levels of pain, which is seriously wtf-worthy. Gave me a shot of dilaudid in my spine which helped, but only about a 30% pain reduction. Substantial overall though.

Everyone made fun of my ingenious improvised support system consisting of a back brace, a vise-grip, and a Swiffer quick mop that has a 360° rotating head for optimal support while rotating your body.

Anyway, I want to die... I'm curious how much that little visit will wind up costing  :)

jesus christ......

Dilaudid is Hydromorphone..

Do you guys remember those opioid pain killer ads with the fat grandmas and -normal- looking people playing with their kids.

The ads emphasized how it's NOT habit forming or addicting.

But several of the people IN THE AD became full blown heroin addicts..

So..   Not trying to rain on your back pain,    but MAXIMUM caution needs to be exerted when confronting any Opioid pain killers.

Last time I was prescribed 30mg hydrocodone.  I threw the prescription out the moment I left the dentist office, bought a bottle of Ibuprofen and rode it out..

Noisy turtle..  having some idea of your personality from our forum exchanges..   I would consider you a highly risky personality to be around this stuff..

Very generally,  the effect of such substances is an Indirect Programming of the brain that the Concurrent Behavior is Correct and Desirable..

It doesn't matter what is happening.. You put that stuff in you.. The brain goes,  YES, I've learned that this is the thing to do to be happy, AND, this is what I should be doing tomorrow.

Tomorrow comes,  and you ask your brain,  what should I do,  Do i want to play video games ?,

The brain's background processing will output, Videogames are fun,  But DRUGS are funner.. Go get drugs..

This internal dialogue will be there forever, ever since inception of the drug..

It doesn't take very long,  if the behavior is continuously reinforced for mere weeks,  YOU ARE a drug addict..

Life spinning out of control is a mere symptom of drug addiction,  but Everything about becoming one Occurs BEFORE that ever happens..

lmao I'm probably one of the the most straight-edged people you'll meet. I don't even take OTC stuff like naproxen or IB, you are forming and basing your advice 100% on the stereotype that people who smoke weed also do other things. Other than pot and booze, literally the only medication I've taken in probably a decade has been Tums.

t's funny thought process you've got there

You are young , and so the sense of invincibility still permeates in all that you think and do.

But the opioid pathway is a direct hijacking of our core motivational system.

The weed and alcohol also work in a similar fashion, but they do not raise the concentration of dopa as high.

THat is to say,  in every way,  noisyturtle is already  Drug-addict Lite..

Whether or not you Unlock the Full-Game w/ all the DLCs,  very much depends on whether or not you respond to caution.

I AM trying to scare you..

and NO,  fearlessness is not heroic in all circumstances..

So what is the actual treatment for your back?

And while I may not be as eloquent as our resident ai4tissue, as someone who does deal with chronic pain, pls do be very careful with the painkillers.
I'm back.

Well it's a herniated disc in my lower back, so the approach is to really stay off my feet and avoid bending at the waist for about a week while managing the pain as best I can. Avoid moving and stretching and sitting for extended periods. Continue the icing and heating alternately to confuse the pain, and if it doesn't get significantly better in 4-6 weeks, see a specialist and consider surgery.

Mainly look out for any numbness, unnatural heat levels in the area,  or tingling which can all be very serious - otherwise I'm boned.

TLdR - it's going to hurt a whole lot for a long time and there's not much I can do about it. Honestly, this is easily the highest levels of pain I have experienced in my adult life. Anyone that has disc issues or sciatica knows that feeling of being a paralyzed invalid, it really sucks.

The spinal disks are avascular,  there is no direct blood supply

It requires Diffused nutrients.

What has happened is that the arteries leading to your lower spine have been shut off by atheromatous plaque.

This lead to your disk degeneration and eventual herniation.

Research show, modern kids show signs of spinal degeneration as early as age 10.

Further protraction of a Standard 'Murican diet will lead to sciatica / nerve ischemia, if that isn't happening already.

Given noisyturtle's current habits and level of self-control.. PERHAPS,  noisyturtle could do more drugs,   but eat less oils ?

The drugs reduce ones' motivation, and long term total productive output/achievement,  but a high oil diet has proven to be much more immediately painful..

if we were to treat 1 thing at a time.. hrrrmm...

Regardless of what tp4tissue says about lentils I enjoy them. A bit of broth and some ground turkey or something along that line of thought, yum.

Dude, sorry to hear of your woes. Chronic pain suuuucks, I know. In my situation, pain-killers had no effect. For whatever reason there's a certain anti-depressant that blocks the pain associated with my condition. It causes a couple unwanted side-effects but totally worth the alternative. Trying to diagnose the problem was probably the worst couple months of my life.

I was also diagnosed with degenerative disc disease (generic western speak for "we don't know what's wrong with you") many years ago that used to cause me great discomfort and pain in my neck. After all of the above happened I decided to alter my lifestyle and adopt a more eastern outlook (diet, bedtime, taichi, stretching, etc) and my neck issues are all but a memory. There's still discomfort but it doesn't keep me from doing anything.

Try to stay stress-free. I believe stress, and other situationally-induced hazards, are to blame for a lot of chronic issues these days.

HAhahahah I overloaded the garden hose tap with too much pressure and attempted to fix it and completely soaked my self and flooded the footpath.

I'll probably get some spare hardware and replace the whole thing instead, I just had some hashbrowns and I feel great.  :thumb:

Spent the whole morning tidying up Dad's garage and made some space for myself so I can work on my wrist rest and other projects going on.  :thumb:

Cleanest garage ever!

Just finished with a wrist rest a few days ago, forgot to clean up, next morning, sanding dust all over my bike.  ;)

Still, garage looks cleaner than my kitchen.

Still, garage looks cleaner than my kitchen.

I made the mistake of using a mitter saw in the kitchen once,

It went EVERYWHERE..

Let's hope you really got into drawing,  and didn't just buy some pens to write your name all of 10 times with.

Yeah, good point. But if I only have to spend 10 euros for a chance to maybe start drawing as a hobby, im not complaining. Might actually work. ;)

Got up early and did some speed cleaning around the house before guests started arriving.

Family and brothers friends came over for my brothers birthday.

Got to meet my newest Niece, who was one of my brothers b-day presents, a second daughter.

Was a great day of grilling and celebrating which ended up with cleaning and finding out that my cat crapped my pants.

Positive in that was he kept it off the carpet, so I just threw the whole mess out.

Was making some nice pasta at school today, lots of fun.
until some kid managed to set the cooktop on fire then later the table sheets, literally right next to our station.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

Kid had never used a cooktop before and claimed that the cooktop wouldn't ignite so he used a lighter to try and light it up.
