Steelcase Think Office Chair?
« on: Sun, 04 December 2016, 13:36:36 »
I've been looking for a nicer office chair that's affordable for a little bit now and I found this on craigslist https://daytona.craigslist.org/fuo/5850562227.html

Anyone have experience with the steelcase think? It's $150, so it's quite a bit cheaper from retail. I'm going to head out and look at it tomorrow.

For $150, that is a steal!  I have a leap, but tried the think out at a local store.  I like the style of that one more, but I also found a deal I couldn't pass up ($30? if I remember right?).
wut. i'd buy a ****ty IBM board for that green V2

It's way better for gaming..  Because you get much greater freedom of motion..

Ontop of the fact that your endurance is greatly improved because there's no back pain or shoulder pain caused by misalignment of the seating position.

I like my standing desks and adjustable height stools.  SPINNING IS SO FUN!

A co-worker of mine retired from Steelcase and bought a bunch of chairs for really cheap before he left.  I was able to get one from him and while mine is an older model (made in 1998) the chair has held up really well and would definitely recommend a Think @ $150.

Tp4 has tried 2 herman millers, 2 steels,

have come to the conclusion that the Problem is Sitting itself...

Because the Hip is rolled forward in the seated position, it puts your spine out of neutral alignment no matter how you support it.. Nothing can be done to the chair to put it in alignment

Now,  there are two factors that mask this problem..

1_  if you're 14... you're much more flexible... While that does not make you immune to pain and subsequent disorders,  You are capable of remaining seated pain free for longer than an adult could..

2_  Total usage..  Even among people who purchase/ sit in ergonomic chairs, they may not be sitting all the time.. even most office jobs require you to get up and mingle once in a while..

So, where do things finally fall apart..   ??

It all spirals out of control,  when you Get older... Sit for Years....  Get FAT...

I bought a Herman Miller Aeron two years ago from some lady who's business failed, barely used with all the adjustments for $300. I am a taller guy with an average build and mild scoliosis so for sitting, that along with a footrest was a great investment for me. The Aeron certainly doesn't fit everyone and some people get cold with the full mesh so YMMV.

Great chair. Had one at my last office and loved it enough I bought one for $140 off Craigslist myself. Best investment I've made.

I tried that one out before, good value and goes on sale frequently. Just know that if you are taller, the removable headrest is a no-go. I am 6'1 and it was pushing against my shoulders pretty bad.

Steelcase is one of the few US companies that are also sold in Europe. The Think is a good chair in it's price range (about 550€ + tax in Germany). I don't like the mesh backrest on your model but that is a matter of taste. I'd take a look at it. Only think I noticed that it is set to a somewhat low position. Might be a hint that the gas spring is defective. At the price point it still might be worth it. You should be able to get this fixed for 50-80€.

Having a great chair is nice. I have a Sedus Mr. 24 with some pricy extras and paid a little bit more than 1800€. People think I am crazy when I tell them but it is the most comfortable office chair I ever had and I can sit in it for days without getting a hurting back. :P
