Went to the doctor, confirmed what the scannist said - I'm all good.  “I just need to check something...” *looks at digital form, section titled cancer* “hmm... yes I'll refer you to a specialist” so CT scan or camera in my bladder - hopefully in that order so they can skip part 2!  Back to waiting, at least another 2 weeks of this crap. Came home and went back to bed, got up, ate, now off to work again.

Hopefully the scan goes better than it did for phinix, assuming the enlarged salivary gland is in your mouth that must be really annoying so good that they want to remove it.

Yeah, its the one below - submandibular gland - the tumor is over 3cm in size, so it is a bit uncomfortable, you can see it on side of my neck...
Weird feeling, especially when I look down, or trying to fall a sleep on that side...

Good luck with your scan!

Oh, not as bad as under the tongue but a lump that big anywhere would be annoying.  Hopefully it comes off without issue.  Not sure what I want mine to say - obviously rather not cancer but something else that's easily fixable would be good.

Looked harder in the train station, big green sign about replacement busses between a random tiny station I thought was the other way but apparently isn't and one that's past where I go so I'm probably out of luck on my refund. Failed to leave early enough to ask at start station so will try the destination with no hope and as much entusiasm as I can muster when I'd rather be asleep.

Edit: No refund and no bikes on buses. Guess I'll have to get used to having no free time.

ALL HAIL NHS

NHS IS GREAT
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Got referral letter to make an appointment for next scan.  When I rolled my eyes to my doctor at the suggestion she said it wouldn't be for a couple of weeks and she was right - it's not. What she failed to mention was the other 10 weeks it won't be for, and that's if I'm willing to travel.  Add another 4 weeks if I want it in my hometown... Seriously, another 3 months of this? I can't do it.

Edit: can't do maths, add that to the list.

What would happen if you add anti-depressants to a physically altered mind?  For the first time they sound like a good idea, but can't help wondering if it's just another example of the stupidity that's getting me down.  When you're objectively useless and can't trust your own mind the last thing you want to do is carry on pushing yourself into a physically drained hole yet that's the only thing you can do else you go insane thinking about it.  Two days 'till the weekend, can't wait.

For rizzles, the most disappointing / depressing time in Tp4's life has been when Tp4 had to ride a bus/ train to wurk everyday for 1.5-2 hours each way.

Regardless of compensation, it felt like throwing life away; ontop of the very real inconvenience and dangers of traveling among drunkards, imbeciles, and imbecilic drunkards.

Tp4 recalls Orange also makes a long trek.  Possibly start a local sports betting shop instead ?

Should be an hour each way cycling - that is great. Most of the last three months it's been 12 mins train 15mins cycling each way due to feeling tired no matter how much I sleep.  Empty trains are tolerable and the only drunk I saw closer than the opposite platform gave me a shot of sambuca :)) This week 12/15 to work as before but 1 hour 40+ cycling home as they decided to cancel the late train. I turned on my computer this morning for the first time since Monday morning, slept and ate the rest of the week.

Thankfully the nearest betting shop to me recentli closed, there are way too many so that's not a good business plan.

What is up with posts that are only quotes with no reply? Is it just a matter of accidentally clicking the post button before typing content, or is there a particular meaning behind this? I've seen this quite a bit recently.

In my case I was at work with patchy reception - it didn't want to post anything then apparently posted my reply and reloaded the empty reply without me noticing and I pressed post again.

Often posts that look like that are people on phones where the quote fills the whole box, they don't notice and add their reply randomly in the middle. Or some are just spamming to post a classified...

I finish early on a Friday so can actually get a train home, right?  Of course not, not this week!  Supposedly the track is broken and won't be fixed tonight so all trains in both directions are cancelled. Yes, both directions.  I'm pretty stupid at the moment but eveen I know that makes no sense unless the damage is in this station - it's not.

Guess that means another exhausting cycle home in strong wind and rain.  If that wasn't annoying enough I'm going to run out of battery so won't even have any music to listen to.

Man, I'm lonely. Virtually my entire adult life I've been solo and never thought twice about it. In fact thrived at it.

Suddenly I feel like I'm missing something integral that everyone else gets to experience, and that I'm too old and far-gone to ever have that in my life.

As my backpack zip is more glued shut than working I bought a saddlebag for my bike to replace it, it may or may not fit without blocking the light.  Sure I can return it, I checked that, but what I didn't consider was that fitting a bag in my bag meant straining the zip.  Sure enough on putting away my lunchbox the glue gave out leaving a half open bag.  So tomorrow there's a good chance I have the choice of 'go hungry' or 'keep a £60 bag that doesn't work'.  Or I could get up really early to test it and take it back (train journey required), but that would still leave me bagless.  Nothing's gone well for months so I'm probably being overly negative but it's hard to get out of this mindset.

Got home to find that the bag doesn't fit to it's holder.  At least it can't block the light if it wont attach at all but can't help wondering if I'm being stupid.  Guess I'll be having an early night and morning, how lovely.

Edit: I was being stupid.  One bag mount attached and clamp fitted to bike - I will not starve!

Got to the train station - train cancelled.  Cycled to work in bad weather without waterproofs and with no chance of being on time.  Was at work maybe two minutes before I dropped my toolbox, denting it badly.  Bent it back so at least it shuts.  Just opened my lunchbox and turns out my new bike mounted bag is not designed for offroading - my banana is 50% liquid (thankfully it didn't split), my sandwiches are shredded and everything's covered in cake :'(

Get h0me, eat 3x top ramen, drink vodka, pass out.

Lock headphones in work, head to train station on bike in the rain suffering recurrence of puncture that fixed itself yesterday (slime tube) well enough for 17 miles in daylight but only managed 200 yards in the dark. Bent valve pumping it up so whatever air's in it is it.  Finally get to train station only to be confronted by police looking for an assault.  At least the train's not even delayed yet, let alone cancelled, but there's still ten minutes for that to change.

Best case - get home, shower, eat, sleep, eat, then head back to work with no chance to buy a tyre or tube.

Life feels like it must for wild animals where every moment is spent surviving.

And in the time I've spent typing this the train is now delayed...

Yikes, focus on the ramen to take your sorrows away.  Imagine mixing different flavor packets for custom flavor.

There is no ramen, it's not at all popular in the UK so I've never even tried it :(

A couple of years ago I got terribly sick going into a 4-day New Year's weekend. There was a company party on Friday at lunch and there was something in something in the food that made about 1/3 of the people terribly sick.

As people walked in the following Wednesday, we asked each person, and they had either had no problem or else had wasted the entire holiday in the bed and/or in the bathroom.

They may have gagged Trump.
They didn’t gag me.
They can’t gag me.
I have no gag reflex.
I am ungaggable.
I have trained my whole life for this.

Moved house, possum infestation in the roof of the new place, pest removal guy put one-way doors where they were getting in and blocked the other holes, one possum pissed in the ceiling and it leaked through an exhaust fan onto the second bathroom floor, stinks, now it seems a possum died up there and the house is full of flies and the bathroom floor is covered with maggots.  Still stinks.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I never believed Aus was that dangerous but even the cute possums are trying to kill you with disease?  Yet you still be nice and just lock them out, how civilised.  Hopefully there's some good karma coming your way :thumb:
