[LF] Dungeon Master for DnD Pathfinder
« on: Sat, 24 August 2013, 13:57:40 »
Myself, Nubbinator, Demik, and Alaric wanna play some DnD. But we need a DM! IF YOU ARE PRO DM HIT ME UP AND WE PLAYZ :D

Wtf, My name better be in that OP or I'm coming to TO and slapping you. How new are you?? I'm about DnD.

Now CPTBadAss play too

However, DM is priority we don't want to have too many players as you all know what that's like. Alaric may not be able to play.

Have you considered Neverwinter Nights 1? It has a DM mode, and you have pretty much on the fly control for making cool stuff happen.

I forgot what the max player limit was, but I believe it was like 5 or 6 people. I just remember how freakin fun that game was.

I have to second this; it's really the perfect visual representation of DnD.  I'm not even into old-school DnD, but I remember it was very easy for a DM to manipulate the world, monsters, dialogue, etc.  I miss NWN.

The problem with something like NWN is that it's bound by the rules that the game imposes.  One of the most interesting things about DnD with a good DM is that the players have a lot more room for unconventional tactics and novel ways of trying things.

True, but most of the DMs/players I've played with are n00bs who don't understand bernoulli conditional. It becomes daunting for me when they impose their misrepresentations of risk assessments on the game.

I'm not saying NWN is better, i'm just saying most fantasy games in general are poorly crafted.

you don't want NWN. you want http://roll20.net/

virtual tabletop, integrated dice roller, videochat, maps, sound effects, background music. all free!

seriously, for online d20 gaming, there is simply nothing close to as good as roll20.

i'd love to volunteer for this, as i've got half a dozen games planned but i'm dead last in my group's queue to run, but my schedule is insane. i couldn't do it more than once a month.

Yup, I also vote for roll20. I've played with it in the past and its just so great for online play.

God, I'd really like to offer my DM services here, but I really don't need another responsibility right now, and it's been a damn age since I ran anything, and I've never done pathfinder specifically. (I've heard it's very, very similar to 3.5?)

If you can't find ANY other person to run this, I might can fill in until we get somebody more qualified.

Cool. I'll read up on any nuances that'll differ from 3.5.

Any way I could jump on the waiting list for player then? You've awoken something deep inside me.

If you get REALLY desperate, I can DM, if the players are older than 10 years old and know how to behave. If they're can't... let's just say I know how to make their sorry lives miserable.

I've never done anything other than pen and paper though.

I think everyone is over 10.  The question is how you define "behave"....

We'd be doing pen and paper, just online.  It has some small difference, but is largely the same thing.

In the end, it's all about finding the tavern, eating the snack of the day, going for the drinking contest, starting a fight and getting our ass kicked by the lv20 bartender that always has an axe ready under the bar.

Well, that's what happens in most of my games  ;D

They guys I have played with always tried to get with the mayors daughter and/or see how fast they could get kicked out of a town.  I think the record was 2 hours in game time.

Pathfinder is very much like 3.5, though with some notable changes. The pool of available options is obviously much smaller. The major mechanical changes are in feats (many are removed and a few added) and the progression of a few classes, and the CMD/CMB system.

the whole system is available online here: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

highly useful when building characters.

Generally i would say that if you've played 3.5, Pathfinder will take very little time to get accustomed to, just be sure to check things you thought you knew for sure, as some of the changes are to things you'd think would be givens.
