Today I had a lady cry hysterically over the phone to me because she is missing a form and thought tax deadline is today, had another client drop off information that showed $10,000 of income but $110,000 of expenses but got upset when I asked about it, another client cuss me and another person here out because their bill went up $30, and then had another client thank me profusely for helping them out and gave me a hug.  It's been a weird ass day.

On a more positive note, I'm heading to my wife's aunt and uncle's house where they have a stocked bar and craft beer on tap to have dinner and play Cards Against Humanity with them and the aunt's lesbian hairdresser and her wife.

One of those stories with the best endings ;D

Paid almost $900 in car repair bills. And it turns out my tracking is off and I need two new front tyres.

Yaaaaaaaay....

Can't you just readjust the wheels relative to their axis? Do you really need new tires?

Once the wheels are out of alignment the tread wears out unevenly, drive around in that state long enough and you'll have no choice but to replace the tires.

The inside of the front tires are worn down to the braiding almost, I think I have just hit a pot hole at some point which has knocked my tracking out.

I like how you use the singular for pot hole...

Mmmm. I joked the other day that the additional £5.3m the government has allocated for the potholes in the West Midlands could be all spent on roads I commute to work on... I should get my dashcam set up just to video all the potholes.

Last night I finished my first smd diode job. All keys register using tweezers to activate. Although I think the default mapping is a little off. Gotta figure that out.

All in all smd soldering isn't that bad.

Oh yeah, switch soldering is super easy in comparison.

I mean once I got in a groove and had a rhythm it went decently quick but handing the tiny smd parts just takes longer.

Of course I had never done SMD work until this Leeku 3000 PCB before so it was all new to me.

Ah okay.  I've never done any soldering before (although I would like to start after I move) and wanted to gauge how hard it would be for me to solder some LEDs onto a board of mine but it sounds like I would be best served just having someone else do it.

Recurring all week so far, study mandarin chinese and play stardew valley

oh there's the whole work thing too I guess :V

also hbd smarmar post pics of pho & stouts pls  :thumb:

why are you studying mandarin ?

I guess the short answer is "it's fun", as for the longer answer...

Rowdy's kind of right, we got a tonne of Mandarin speaking Chinese here in Melbourne, but for the most part I enjoy the language. Writing it is somewhat therapeutic for me as well  :thumb:

I like other languages, and I want to learn as much as I possibly can so I can maybe help bridge the gap between certain communities and whatnot.

Took my car to get its summer tires put back on. Drove by a thrift shop and decided to check if they had any keyboards.

Thought I had found an AT102W for a fraction of a second... Not really.

135109-0

Still an interesting board; one of the better rubber dome keyboards money can buy judging by posters here, the keys have a rather pleasant tactility.

Gave it a thorough cleanup; works, except for the Caps Lock LED. Update: It works fine on another computer for some reason...

Got around to making a few of those pixel art thingies for my signature.

Nice find, it looks great. Too bad about the LED though. I've been wondering about those pixel art things. Do you just make them yourself?

Pixel art: there's a whole thread about them.

OP has a fairly complete spreadsheet at the bottom.

I used some of those already there as a starting point:
WASD V2 TKL: modded to ISO and changed the colors of another to match my set.
Dell QuietKey: started off from eyesnine's AT101, modded to ISO, added the QuietKey text, tweaked the case a little.
ThinkPad Compact: began using sealcouch's M13, required the most work I'd say.
Microsoft Sculpt Ergo: found a render from MS, modded to ISO, made the background properly transparent, shrunk it.

mine have been broken for three months now, but it sorta forced to me use my contacts
I can't wear contacts at work. To much of a safety hazard. Where mine broke was the frame around the lens right above the screw.

Today was actually pretty good...worst thing that happened was me being rained on trying to walk to a friend's presentation at our student union's ballroom  :)), didn't make it very far since his presentation schedule changed and met him on the way there

  • work was quiet, made a few campaign emails to get me off phone support
  • chick-fil-a for lunch! and I got a free 5-layer burrito from taco bell
  • manager left for the day and we came close to having a couple of P1 critical system outages (that I would have been required to deal with), but that didn't happen
  • got my first reaper 1 in the mail! :D
  • finally found a VESA mount for $7 so I can use one of my monitors portrait style
  • found some buffalo chicken flatbreads on sale for $1.99 at walmart so I stocked up
  • and now that I'm home, I'll probably play some Civ V or something with friends
