I downloaded the two seasons of GITS today (don't worry, I have both sets on DVD as well so it's not piracy) and am four episodes in to season one.

I forgot how much I love this show.

I thought first season was great..  then second one was okkk.... then the second half of the second season just turned into talk-fest...  non stop talking about random stuff that while potentially interesting topics on their own  really took away from the show, because it did not tie in very well..

I think the second season is actually better than the first. But I preferred the explosions and Kuze than the whole Laughing Man storyline.

I started watching the first season of Attack on Titan last night on Netflix. It's pretty good.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

I'm not terribly fond of the -Do Over- Genre...  You can do all of the things RIGHT NOW,, the Do-Over makes no sense..  any of those desires could be realized in other ways without becoming younger or going to the past..

Man thunderbolt fantasy dialogue/plot structure makes no sense in Japanese, It's way too Chinese to be transcripted..

It only works when I'm live translating to Chinese in my head.

Little out of the loop these days... did they make anything as good as Cowboy Bebop yet?

What I liked about it was how it lulls you in with spaceships and action sequences and cool characters, then springs a bunch of seriously emotionally affecting stuff on you by surprise. Also the music, obvs. Meh, maybe if I rewatch it now like 100 years after the first time I'll be disappointed.
Champloo wasn't as good. Kids on the Slope was better. Space Dandy was fun, but not in the same league at all. The only thing I can think of that comes close is Ruruoni Kenshin.

So... recommendations?

There is such a thing as pinnacle..

Without radical evolution of human ideology,  given enough repetition we exhaust all possible refinements upon any narrow medium.

Having utilized modernity's time wealth dedicated to discover and rarefy anime,   we've already reach the epitome of such span.

Therefore,  Nothing much could be produced which exceed the Classically forged series such as Bebop and Outlaw Star..

... authors of the The Anime Encyclopedia agreeably denoted Outlaw Star as "no competition for Cowboy Bebop in terms of style, content, or execution"
OK, maybe later. Thx for playing!

Not yet. Is it good then?

No, but I'll assume this is a joke. Nice one  :thumb:

Check it out for yourself. Episodes are up on Amazon for $2.99 each. Lots of time travel and nerdy shenanigans. Nothing like Cowboy Bebop, but Steins:Gate has a bit of a cult following so I guess that says something about the show.

steins gate is quite good in it's own way but probably not the cowbody bebop competition you're looking for, it's much more plot driven and slow-paced

Here are a few good titles (maybe not as good as cowboy bebop):

Planetes
Darker than black
Ergo proxy
Ghost in the shell
Psycho pass
Eve no jikan
Michiko to hatchin

(if you want to read a good manga try "battle angel alita")

Like the orig GITS movie. The series never really grabbed me tho, and the subsequent movies never lived up to the first.
Psycho Pass I quite liked. Just enough headtrippy philosophy stuff to break the monotony of the action stuff.
I'd forgotten about Michiko to Hatchin - that show was awesome!

thx for the other recs!

Not a frequent anime watcher, but I finally watched Evangelion last weekend (only the original 26 eps, still need to get to End of Evangelion and Rebuild). I'd always heard good things about it, but never looked too much into it, so I didn't know what all I was getting into. Definitely glad I finally sat down and watched it.

Yea, the doll face is very uncanny...

especially the mouth part...

But there is also a large following behind -freaky- looking things..

With more exposure, I think, it's less scary..

Yup, that was the final episode.

Given what the left out, some people are skeptical on how the could start a season 2 at THAT(spoiler free since you seem to know what they left out). I suspect there will be a season 2, but not until the light novels build up more material. I think they went through 9 volumes for 25 episodes?
