ooo didn't know there was an anime thread. I'm going through a sports anime phase right now. Can't wait for Haikyuu to start up again in October and currently watching Days

If you're looking for a sports series to watch in the meantime, I'd highly recommend Ping Pong.

Tried watching this.. Couldn't get into it..   The reveal is very slow.. and the Secret just does not seem interesting.

The main character has the power to reset from death,   is that really the most interesting thing he could be doing given such an immense ability.

So, if we look at Edge of Tomorrow, WAY WAY better use of that ability. and it's all wrapped up in an hour..

I don't know how anyone can believe that it's going to continue publishing on a regular schedule every time it comes back from hiatus. At this point, considering the release pattern and sheer scale of the story, I'm confident that Miura will die before the series is finished.

Unless he absolutely butchers it and horrifically rushes things, but even then, it'd take a huge Deus ex machina for Guts to somehow beat Griffith quickly right now, which would go against the whole point of Guts's character.

You can watch it, if you find it horrible watch the movies and the old anime. And if you don't like them you can read the manga :) If you read the manga I think you'd prefer the manga over all of those adaptations :D

IMO, more berserk is good berserk. even if people don't like the newest season, it doesn't make the previous works worse by any means. I, myself, quite enjoyed the new series (although they could have focused more on fighting imo). Others, however, seemed to really really really really really really really really really really really really really dislike the CG (I have no problem with CG).

What are some good tear-jerker animes? I've seen Clannad, YLIA and Anohana. I'm planning to watch plastic memories, Kanon (2006) and the anohana movie. Are there any other out there at the same level as these and in the same style?

Grave of the Fireflies (Devestating)
Now and Then, Here and There
Makoto Shinkai's works
Mamoru Hosoda's works aren't "beat your heart into the ditch"-level, but they can make you quite misty-eyed at times

Maybe the Ruruoni Kenshin OVA's could fit into this category.

I'm like 10 episodes away from finishing Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Legend of the Galactic Heroes), pretty good space opera. ReLIFE, was very enjoyable, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's current season is very good. This past season's Shokugeki had great pacing (the manga is pretty insane rn), Mob Psycho was really good (better than OPM imo).

This current season doesn't seem to have anything of interest to me. I am currently looking for manga to read
I finished Oyasumi Punpun; I've caught up with Shokugeki & Berserk & and am reading The Five Star Stories rn.

If anybody has any particular recommendations this season for anime, that'd be cool.

I kept up with it this season. Yeah the main girl was especially annoying... but I've gotten used to those types of characters hahah. Overall pretty good though, emotional with a nice wrapped up ending.

No, I have yet to read/watch it, althought i've heard nothing but good things from it :) it's definitely on my list!

is monster good ?

I didn't watch it because I don't really like zombies/ ghouls/ vampire,   unless it involves survival situations.

You guys seen Keijo yet? Holy hell.. #justjapanthings

Shuumatsu no Izetta seems pretty cool, I mean it has a witch flying on a 50. cal barret or some **** fighting nazis.

All out and Haikyu are dope as hell as expected.

Drifters started great.

I still need to check out Occultic 9 and Sangatsu no lion some day.

monster is not a supernatural anime, it is a psychological one  :))

it is one of the best animes I've watched, along with Code Geass. I don't really like supernatural animes haha.

Haven't seen Keijo yet, but one of my friends has been very hype for the manga for a long time.

Another friend of mine has been a big Sangatsu no Lion. They're both roommates and close friends of mine, and it's curious to see that the respective manga series that they both hype are animated this season.

So kinda off topic, anyone seen/know where to see Gantz:0? I really want to see that for effects alone.
Been watching Ajin and Iron Blooded Orphans, thats about it this season. Know any shows that might be similar?
Little out of the loop these days... did they make anything as good as Cowboy Bebop yet?

What I liked about it was how it lulls you in with spaceships and action sequences and cool characters, then springs a bunch of seriously emotionally affecting stuff on you by surprise. Also the music, obvs. Meh, maybe if I rewatch it now like 100 years after the first time I'll be disappointed.
Champloo wasn't as good. Kids on the Slope was better. Space Dandy was fun, but not in the same league at all. The only thing I can think of that comes close is Ruruoni Kenshin.

So... recommendations?
(something not gory or ecchi, so I can watch on the train without feeling like a creeper)
If you're still searching; Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi maybe? Nothing like Bebop, but light hearted and quite funny.

So far so good imo, I agree on the names not that I've ever been good with names, the larger picture comes in a little later IIRC.

Who's caught up on JoJo? I had read up to somewhere in Part 5 a few years ago and fell behind on DiU's adaptation back in Spring, but I spent last week in a mad dash to catch up.

Been really enjoying DavidPro's work on DiU overall. It's great seeing some of my favorite moments recaptured, especially in the color palettes they've been using for the show. The introduction of Kai Harada to the anime also really helps enhance the small town feel of the arc, in my opinion, and connect some of the more loose chapters together.

Also just started Flying Witch, about two episodes in. I love me some iyashikei.
