« on: Tue, 14 June 2016, 10:08:15 »
First Card I bought which HAD-TO-RUN at 100% fan speed to stay cool while gaming..

Otherwise CRASHHHHH

checked the sound level on my pc..  held up my phone to where the my ears are.

almost as loud as the lawn mower IMHO..

Anyone got old Loud Cards ?

I had a pny 660ti with the reference cooler.  It was basically just an aluminum finned block shoved under a shroud.  For some reason, this was the loudest card I have ever seen.  I wonfer if it was the neede max fan speed causing some resonance inside the cooler mixed with very turbulent airflow from all the shapes of the housing, but this thing sounded like someone stuffed a vacuum in my case.  It was loud from across the room.  Closed headset required.  I was able to find a reference evga cooler on ocn, slapped that on and the volume was more than cut un half.

Um.. they're all like that.. hahahahaha..

The better heatsinks have a larger copper block section.. but aluminum block section is pretty much equivalent..

Found a used 4870x2 and that sucker ran at around 100c at load. I had to replace it because it sounded like a helicopter haha
