0/10 Halverson. You got me into fountain pens and you're making ballpoints? Is it even a Fisher space pen or Cross refill??!! At least a Pilot G2 refill?!

Is a gel pen any worse than a fountain pen? Remember, it's not a ball point!

I am actively looking for work as a programmer.

Yesterday, I handed in my solution for a programming test for a C++ shop. Moderate difficulty. Aced it.

Today, I went to a job interview at a company that uses APL.
"We don't expect you to know APL before you start, we will teach you. Here are the basics of APL: ...."
Then I got three small string operations to write, and two hours to do it in. The assignment would have been childsplay in C, Python or Ruby.... but in APL ... not so much.
I eventually solved the last task right when the time was up, and only after I had got some help.
... And the total code in APL is shorter than this sentence.

(... and no, I did not get to use or even see any sexy APL keyboards, so don't even ask. :( )

I had a very nice Father's Day :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Just spent the last 15 hours in an ER in Philly. Wife has horrible migraines. Neurologists there are good, thankfully.

What made the night not so horrible was the guy slumped in his wheelchair doing helicopters with his wiener in the waiting room, a lady lighting a cigarette while arguing at the check-in desk, and the guy in the room next door to ours having to be escorted out because he was so ****ing high that he was throwing all his clothes and shoes at every doctor, nurse, security officer, and cop because the garments were "eating him like ****ing parasites".

I know most ERs are crazy, but... yeah... PHILLY gots the extra crazies.
My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

CPT's just trolling...

There's NOTHING not to like about SNSD....

plastic surgery? f, off that's their job..

Typically Nerdi-Round-Sifo types will openly reject k-pop girls because (physically) they represent an unreachable plateau for them, but deep down, they know that if they ever had a shot, they'd willingly fall over and sit in the puddle.

I have a cousin that behaves and kinda looks exactly like CPT... all anger+ faux macho on the outside,  all emo on the inside.

It's like how ugly chix will say how much they h8 pretty boys, because they know that the trade for them is damn near impossible..  so they placate this dissonance by picking faults @ said pretty-boy.

Went to Jefferson because they have that special "Headache Center", and due to one of their neurologists being there we may get fast(er) tracked into the specialized place.

Went to a protest, got shot twice in the chest and once in the back with plastic bullets. Loads of teargas. Came home made dinner, played some Battlefield.

Thanks, pretty used to it by now. Only problem is that a bunch of my t-shirts now have legit bullet holes in them  :))

I have had one day off in the past 6 weeks. If it's not work, it's renos.

My office is ready for drywall now though.

So is our new living room.

Now there is actually hanger brackets in the ceiling.

Kitchen still in boxes.

New entry and panel.

swill - that you would even think of doing something like that is fantastic!  I wouldn't even know where to begin.  And the end result is a house that you can be proud of :)

Ya, it is a bit stressful, but it is coming along. Once everything is closed back up I will feel better.

It's a nice old house. First real reno since it was built in the 1940s. It is nice to make it our own.

I bought several houses 6 months before the financial meltdown in 2008. I did total remodels to all of them down to bare studs, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, gas, and interior finish, etc. Fulfilling and exactly the way you want it. Highly recommended.

are you invulnerable?
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
