walked about two kilometers in -20c weather with lots of wind and icy ground carrying lots of food because dinner

almost grew the guts required to clean my other backup keyboard, then didn't because I don't want the dorito to kill me

-10c to -20c and snowing sideways is a pretty regular occurrence where I go to school. It makes walking an interesting endeavor.
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Attempted to desolder a wyse board , burnt myself twice , killed my 2 desolder pump , only 1/3 of the job done . That's ok I guess ...
If you just want the switches, you could just put the solder gun on the solder, heat it up, and pull, and eventually between the 2 pins, it will come out.
Interesting I'll try it .
When I didn't have a solder wick, thats what I did, but I also ended up burning the PCB board, so, take it with a grain of salt if you want to keep the PCB.
Don't care about pcb , so that's fine .
Vintage black harvesting I assume?
yep preping the switches that will go on the RedScarf III.
Are vintage blacks really that good? I have only ever tried 1 black switch, and they feel fine as they are.

 nope

Ate some delicious korean bbq. they played the baddest female and now I'm on a CL binge.

I successfully remapped the number pad on my XT to a pseudo navigation cluster/arrow keys with a windows key, wake, and sleep key.  Thanks spamray for the link to wcass's explanation for dummies on how to go about that.  If I get around to it I will post the layout later.
Sweet. Glad you got somewhere with that. Sorry I didn't have time to help. :)

All good Swill.  I totally understand the reason for your lack of spare time.  Keep at what is important to you.

Here is a image of what I changed on my layout.  Everything that is blank is default.

86930-0

Edit:  Funny thing though.  The hardest part about getting used to this keyboard isn't anything with the physical layout or the switches.  It is the fact that there is nothing for homing on the F and J keys.

the main filter in the boiler room is the only kind you can buy.

They don't make the right size ones for upstairs vents...  So you gotta diy...

considered taking my midi keyboard apart and making a typing keyboard with the switches for the luls, then I remembered that I don't remember where the soldering iron is and I can't print my own PCBs, and velocity would be useless for a typing keyboard. Interesting thing to try, though, once I have the stuff and am more experienced with that kind of thing

Ah okay that stinks. I used 3M Filtrete filters in China that came on a roll. Expensive but easy to install.

Taking the 3yr old grocery shopping by myself. This should be interesting.

How did the shopping trip go?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It gets like that, and you have to balance whether to buy them a little something first (then they want to go hmoe and eat/play with it), or afterwards (then why nag to to finish shopping and get them something NOW).

Went Christmas shopping with my daughter on Saturday, she received a couple of gift vouchers.  Actually I ended up getting nearly as much as she did :))

I have many regrets about using them. But I couldn't find the Monoprice earbuds I had that were solid. They're in fact my backups to my backups.

They are a half step up from some ****-tastic Phillips earbuds I borrowed from a co-worker one day though...

Not only is Mark Duplass (Pete from The League) married to Katie Aselton (Jenny from The League), but he is the lead singer of Volcano, I'm Still Excited!!, a band signed to Polyvinyl Records, my favorite record label.  And that's how you spell the name of the band (with two '!!'), I'm not two-exclamation-points excited about this.  I'm just surprised.

Skipped calc because I wasn't feeling it and swapped my HHKB to 55g domes.
How does it feel compared to the 45g?

More tactile and it's heavier, I'd recommend trying 55g before doing a swap. I really like it.
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Would you say you also feel like they snap up faster? And is it the rubber domes you swap out or the springs?

They snap back at the same speed, you swap the domes, the springs are the same.

I spent most of the day learning how to use AutoCAD, then I made brownies by myself for the first time in my life.

I cancelled an appointment because I am sick and not walking a kilometer in -13c sunny extremely windy weather with snow and ice on the ground while sick enough to hardly be able to see properly

so instead of going to that appointment I played racing games all day
