I had surgery yesterday about 1PM, spent the night in the hospital, and have already been discharged.  My stomach is pretty sore from the incisions but I feel pretty good, and I am going to the doctor in a week to reduce my medication.  Thanks again for the good thoughts guys!

Glad it went well!
I'm back.

Solved a problem which has been bugging me for at least a month. Nothing like being asked to solve the impossible and actually finding a solution. It ain't pretty, but the client is fine with it. Woot!!!

Had a similar experience yesterday - managed to palm off one of the most awful spreadsheets I've ever encountered to someone else

Played golf with my boss today for the first time in too long. Finished with three straight birdies. It was a beautiful day outside also. Only problem is now I don't have any interest in working for the next 3 hours.

Glad everyone took a step forward today since mine was just a huge step backwards.

Days behind on a project with a deadline and boom--main server hd stops responding after a power blip.  Everything else came back up fine except that hd.  And it's an enterprise class drive too! (like all the others).  Spent the whole day making sure the backups had proper data integrity and reinforcing the power filtering on the server to prevent this in the future.

It was a really sucky day.  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Rode my bike without realizing my rear derailleur was damaged. Got it caught in the spokes while changing gears. Didn't ride my bike the rest of the way.

Preparing to murder the mod who regularly closes the Bothering topic.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Yea. Are you hurt or anything? How are things?

And then how does that **** even work. Like... Do you trade info with the deer? Does your insurance pay for it no problem or do you have to go after deer for money?

But really, hope everything isn't too bad

So this doe runs across and almost hits the car in front of me, he slams the brakes so I was already braking when the buck ran out. I probably hit him going 20-25 so not too bad. He jumped a bit so he mostly crushed the hood, didn't set off the air bag or break the windshield. The car was totally drivable but the radiator had a huge crack so it dumped liquid faster than it could be poured in.

Some dude stopped to see if I was ok and he asked if he could take the deer, but I did get an antler that flew off. He also followed while I limped the car a few miles to the closest town. I found a shop and they gave me a car for the week while it's worked on.

The deer was really ****ed up, because he jumped he flew about 20ft and I broke all his legs on impact. The deer's eyes were the most crazy color, you could tell they were dead, it was weird.

Dude, venison is really good.  Venison sausage and steaks are popular to make, as well as smoked jerky and sausage (among others, I'm sure).  Mmmmmmmmm.  I'm not a hunter myself, but I sure do love when my coworkers and relatives share their meat.

I just revived a Kinesis Classic that I found in office cleanup previously. I found it around three months ago. It was in good condition but did not work after I plug it into my Linux or Windows machine. It beeps but does not send any key stroke. Today I realize it was in Mac mode. After switching it to PC mode, it works perfectly! I am so happy it comes back to live! (though I don't think I will use it frequently. I like my 60% better)

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

One sentence in on a 15 page business report. Going to be a loooooong day

Reading it or writing it?

Either way you have my sympathy.

I honestly think I prefer writing reports to reading them

Drove 4 hours to/from soccer tournament. Then drove 10 hours Orlando to Birmingham. I'm tired.
I'm back.

Agreed.  When reading them I always find all the errors and spend more time rearranging the words in my head than actually reading them.

And then wonder why I can't remember what I've read :))

Your amphibian is quite fast I must say.
