Got a little drunk with an English guy and he tried to explain me British class society. In one hour thirty I started getting the ****.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I have fun drinking with people who are not from Britain. The Irish, Americans, Poles, Czechs, Croatians...

My back was behaving today and deadlifts were good.  505 lbs completed.  It wasn't as difficult as I was expecting, either.  Very please to break the 500 mark.

As a bonus, I was without a lunch from home but a bunch of people brought in food for a potluck so I had plenty to chose from this morning to save for lunch.  Mmmm cheese and chili tamales.

Courageous, going to work with a migraine.

Glad you're feeling better though.

We all start somewhere.  I started at 135 and 5 lbs a week from there, then every other week when weekly got too much.  Now it's 10 lbs a month if that.

Gain 5lbs a week?   That's not possible.

Uhhhh, yeah it is, it's totally possible and actually pretty slow if you're not near your peak and training for strength.

Today I went to a Christmas "party" at my work, where we went over a new employee handbook for 3.5 hours and then had lunch and a gift exchange for the other 0.5 hours.  Found out that I will need to get EA certification within a year which sucks, but also found out that I will be getting two weeks of paid vacation in 2016 along with paid sick days, so I guess it all evened out.

Add 5 lbs per week to the weight being lifted.  I started out lifting deadlifts at 135 lbs.  I added 5 lbs a week to the starting weight of 135.

For that, it's on the slower side of beginning routines.  Something like Starting Strength or Stong Lifts would have you add 5 lbs per session with squats 3 times a week.  It can add up quickly.  I went more the Greyskull LP route of 5 lbs per week as you can stick to the routine longer.  Plus I started later in life without the youthful recovery so I thought it better to play it safe.  5 lbs a week adds up quickly enough.

Yeah I was doing like a mark rippetoe thing before, I varied it myself but it would have you pretty much double the weight per week at the start, I went from 60kg squats to 120kg in like six months.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I could maybe do 1/5 of that

We all start somewhere.  I started at 135 and 5 lbs a week from there, then every other week when weekly got too much.  Now it's 10 lbs a month if that.

Gain 5lbs a week?   That's not possible.

Yeah, Rip does not screw around.  I keep looking at Texas Method but with Wednesday being intended as light, it means I'm loading up one day with squats, bench, and deadlifts.  Lots of people have mentioned putting that on Fridays though I'm not sure how much I want to hit 1x5 on deadlifts after a heavy set of 5 on squats.

Finished up round 9 of 351 PL and will be doing Candito's 6 week routine starting on the 11th.  That should be interesting as I haven't had that much squat volume in a while.

Drank with Brits.

Slept for 3 hours.

Waiting for a car that will bring me to London.

I drove through one of the wealthier neighborhoods in the area and saw a house with their own snow machine making snow in a 15x30ft area of their front yard...

There is absolutely zero snow on the ground. Most people are happy, but apparently these people aren't going to let Mother Nature push them around.
