huh, I wish I knew about internally geared hubs when I was breaking my deraillers off. Cheers  :)
I haven't used derailleurs much. How do you break one off?

I have broken a few by hitting them on rocks/logs while riding down trails.  :(

It's not clear how often you'll have to re-grease the insides.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I moved from county Cardiff to another county in South Wales. A whole ****ing mile from my old house. Now I have to pay council tax to another authority. But my new flat is cheaper, so, it's less ****ing taxes!

See, I originally read "country", because I suck at speed reading.

Me too.  -_-

Well, practically never or once every 30000 km. But that's really mostly for the bearings.
I use it over longer distances and at higher speeds so I noticed for a while that it was running heavier than usual. (25000 km on it or so?)
Ordered a €20 maintenance kit, some ball bearings and some grease and that was it.

Most people won't have to do anything during the lifecycle of the bike.

Been hanging out with R1N3 a bunch. We built an Orion V2, ate Korean food and some great American style smoked ribs, and went thrifting. It's been a lot of fun <3

No bumps for me, the cogs broke free of the hanger. I suppose that should have been the starting point when I refurbished an 80s era world sport

Damn, that's a lot. I had a similar repair bill after I hit a curb while jumping over something at speed and subsequently had to have my rear wheel rebuilt. :(

I played Pokémon Yellow on my cousin's GB. Never had my own, and I couldn't save the game.
I bought FireRed when I got my DS Lite, and that was the first Pokémon game I owned.

Haven't played in a while. Thinking of getting a Yellow ROM hack so I can catch all 151 without trading.

FireRed is good.  :)  ROM hack, eh?  I'll have to look into that.  Do they just sprinkle in the trade-only ones where they show up in other games?

I played Blue originally on the original GameBoy with a bunch of buddies who all had Red.  Oddly enough when I moved a few years back I found my original big ass gray GameBoy with Blue still in it and still on the original save file I had opened almost 20 years ago!

I'll have to recheck. I think some gym leaders were beefed and some moves were altered, but otherwise they'd have some new method of catching them all.

You can't anodize steel, might just oil it a bit, I really doubt there will be enough moisture to rust the plate (unless someone spills juice on it again)

You can anodize steel, just can't anodize all types of steel properly. How about some powder coating?

Managed to rescue some parts of my childhood over the weekend :D

Everything still (clearly) needs to be cleaned up, and there's still more that I need to grab (N64 + Games, rando accessories).

YEEEEEEE!!  :D

That's the plan! The NES and SNES both need a thorough cleaning for sure, as they were stuck in an attic for a while.

Last night my roommate dumped an entire cup of juice on his keyboard  :-X so today I cleaned it all out, cleaned and lubed switches and modded the plate a bit.

Went from this:

to this:

but, I didn't like the black plate.. so I got some scotch brites and did this:

and lastly with some placeholder keys, gotta find me a TKL pcb now I guess.

Um..

haha.. ah.. that plate isn't stainless.. so... yea.......  they didn't paint it to make it look black, they painted it cuz it rusts.. hahahahahahha
Haha I wouldn't mind a patina plate
But seriously. I didn't think that rust would be that much of an issue but maybe I'll look into protecting it better
Ew, please not patina  :'( Anodized perhaps?
You can't anodize steel, might just oil it a bit, I really doubt there will be enough moisture to rust the plate (unless someone spills juice on it again)
You can anodize steel, just can't anodize all types of steel properly. How about some powder coating?

well DO NOT use oil, because the dust will form a fuzzy layer beneath the caps. and you'll have a hell of a time cleaning that..

Haven't posted in a bit, but competed in the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge this weekend.

Ended up missing Gold by 1 second on both the shuttle sprint & the 1000m sprint.  Hopefully I can get gold next year.

Award goes on dress uniform, but was pinned on our ACU during the award ceremony:

A fat stack of French homework, re-routed the power and USB cables in my desk and added a hub behind my keyboard, and started tinkering with my SPOS keyboard.

Thank you.  I'm American, but we are authorized to wear certain foreign awards on our uniforms if we are awarded them.

I'm eating vegan cookies for dinner.  It's moment like these that I know I'm an adult.  Because I went for the healthy vegan ones and not the normal ones.
