AFAIK, the two main downsides to fixies are turns and the different pedalling technique considering you can't "pulse".  But if you can handle those things then you'll be golden.  Single speeds are awesome, and I've long considered picking up a fixie - just not sure if I need one at this point.  :)

Why are turns harder than another bike? I mean, maybe VS a BMX, but compared to a 10 speed or something similar it should be quite the same except that you need to keep pedaling whatever happens instead of coasting.

That's the problem.  If you tip as you turn and catch the downstroke of the pedal at the lowest point in the turn your pedal can hit the ground.  It's either a harmless jarring or can sometimes be problematic.  You get used to it and learn to adapt, but it's a little awkward at first.

Ah I see, will keep that in mind! At worst, I'll use it 1 speed if fixed is problematic anyway.

That is a problem with conversion bikes (tenspeeds with fixed hub) because the bottom bracket is much lower, made this way for comfort over longer rides. Track geometry is made with higher bottom bracket do to making hard corners (velodromes) and having to pedal constantly! That bike above has a higher bottom bracket, if you clip a pedal on that you're about to crash anyway  :p

Oh!  TIL.  I am not an expert, BTW, just someone that's into bikes.   :p  In that case, nevermind.  The only thing to be aware of is the different pacing of pedaling, but that's so minor it's not even a concern - just something different.  So yay!

I want a Cuban sandwich... but there is no where in this town that makes them! Not sure if I want to make a several hour affair to roast the pork Cuban mojo style and bake some proper bread for the sake of having a sandwich. But, I have been craving one for days at least.

JPG, I think you would be happier with a normal track/single speed over a fixie in the long run. Fixed can do some cool things like riding backwards or good for skid moves but have more drawbacks for normal riding probably since you have to keep constant motion you will get tired sooner.
Counter to some people I would advise against strapping your feet into the pedals. To me they have always been a recipe for disaster if needing to come to abrupt emergency stops unless you enjoy falling over on your side when you can't get your foot out fast enough.

To not be so indecisive when it comes to my keyboard choices.

I went ahead and bought a HHKB, got it last week and enjoyed for it a week, switched back to my MX red for a few hours and since coming back to my HHKB, I'm just not enjoying it as much anymore. :(

Give it more time. Use it exclusively for a month. Get used to the layout. The beauty of where Control is located, where the backspace is located. The logical placement of the cursor arrows on the function layer. Then try to use your other keyboard(s).

The feeling of oneness with cup rubber will grow on you, like a fungus. At first you will think, why am I using this? They are just rubber domes. Then you will get used to typing on them. Then you will find yourself actually sorta liking the feeling. I know, it's strange to go from a cheap rubberdome, to MX with its purely mechanical feel, and then finding yourself getting comfortable with using what amounts to a fancy rubberdome again. But that's how it happens. And that layout seals the deal.

I want CC to get better.

Not so he can continue Radnelac, but just because he's a nice GHer :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I want demik to be the little spoon.

And I want demik to be the big spoon for once.

Maybe we make a spoon sandwich?  Best of both worlds?

People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done
