What I mean is, middle eastern conventional fighting forces are largely ****.

Partly due to regime changes that have meant their armies have disbanded and reformed and then also due to training regimens changing and different standards being expected of them. And also a lot of those training teams leaving far too quickly to actually have trained enough soldiers for them to fight effectively.

The reason why the advance on Mosul is going so well is because there are so many western "advisors" on the ground with them.
