I'm no psychologist, but I understand that in many cases, people who compulsively eat large amounts of food—especially sugary stuff—feel they're inadequately appreciated and/or loved. The food provides an immediate feeling of physical contact and pleasure, and the increased blood flow to the digestive tract has a calming effect.
Unfortunately, you turn into the Goodyear Blimp, and are eventually found dead among one or more pieces of collapsed furniture.
