It's not much faster than AC (~35%), it's meant to distribute to more clients (400% more) at the same rate, I.E. a busy office environment.

It does almost nothing for home users over AC.

it was already hard to find an AC card for my old laptops that uses mini pci-e, i feel it may get even harder to keep on top with this one

What I'm concerned about is whether the antennas need to be special , since the frequency change would require different antenna material optimization ??

Swapping laptop antenna is cumbersome, annnnnd if they even sell new 6e antennas.

any piece of wire can be an antenna, it just will not be optimal and so will not have the best range, so worst case scenario you lose range, no laptop or pc uses optimal antennas anyway, best you get is usually quarter wave at 2.4GHz, never even saw a 5GHz optimized antenna outside of WiFi AP catalogues.
my guess it that it will work as good as 5GHz currently (pretty well with this walls or line of sight, pretty poor with old thick walls).

It does almost nothing for home users over AC.

Lots of new spectrum is very attractive to those in dense environments.

Impractically expensive at the moment though. And last time I checked, not available for corporate access points.

As attractive as the spectrum is, I'm going to be on .11ac for a long, long time.

So the  Eeeeeeee  is not faster than the vanilla 6 if the neighborhood is _Not_ dense ?

Literally don't care :)

Max wifi speeds are mostly theoretical, and unless it's totally buggered, most the time far higher than what the device needs anyway.

IMO coverage and reliability are more important than faster.

Though if I think about it a moment longer, 6E represents a big advance for spectrum. 6 is just not worth it over the previous standard. I've got a couple of friends who are getting gig speeds over 6, but even they admit that it just gives them the warm fuzzies for the ten seconds it takes to run speedtests, the rest of the time it's irrelevant.

am i the only one a bit excited about the new security features? like encryption over open WiFi and WPA3 mitigation against dictionary attacks?

Only things I have noticed on the standard Wifi6/AX3200 adapters I've updated to in my rigs in the house is better connectivity with my AC access points and allowing the full bandwith of the AC band (instead of topping at 350-450Mbps they now run to 650-750Mbps over wifi).

About 35% faster, plus new security.
It's not density of neighborhood, it's density of users on that particular router.

It's like adding 3 more access points to increase users, not faster, just that more will get closer to max theoretical speed.
