A thread about awesome people
« on: Sun, 21 April 2013, 23:24:13 »
I think we need a happy thread free from hate and anger what's happened around here. So no hating on people, or negative talk.

A couple months ago I traded a key with tsangan, mine reached him, but about a month later mine hadn't arrived (never did). Tsangan sent me another one though finally found it's way to me without me asking or anything. That's why (one of the reasons at least) he's awesome.

Let me tell you guys a story about the DarkSide keycap from cc.  I ordered one from him, he sent it but it's never reached me.  So I pm'd him and he said to wait a few days so we both waited but still nothing.  He sent another one right away after that just as he promised.  Other people would probably just accuse me of keeping it and lying that I'd never received it but not cc.

After 3 weeks have passed, my neighbor in the next building came over and handed me a box.  I knew right away what was inside.  I contacted cc and sent the extra one back.

Long story short, cc is awesome but I'm sure you guys know that that already. lol  :)

cc IS awesome. I would like to thank him for making my dream come true of completing the Trifecta of DeliciousnessTM.

KingKlaxon is a cool guy, and you should just offer some sacrifice.

Halverson is alright, for being an archenemy. I couldn't have picked a better one.

SF is a pretty good spammer.

So many people here are just great people. This is a good community.

I think CPTBadAss and SmallFry are awesome for really helping with my radio stream on Monday nights. They also give me good thoughts on my keycap projects! I like dimamantra for joining in on the discussion about traffic lights (you all just wait till I have everything finished! Including MIDI sync!). Matt3o and samwisekoi are awesome for the Retro DSA group buy. I can't wait for the Nuclear Data one!

I'd also like to thank all of you who do listen to my radio stream on Mondays. AKIMbO, dubsgalore, OrangeJewce, RougeR, brtaylor92, TAdams, eckse... You are all part of the reason my neighbors keep glaring at me while I drag six-packs home on Monday night. :D

I'd also like to thank iMav for this cool forum. I've done a lot more constructive things in the last year, largely because of Geekhack.

LMAO MiMiC! I quite like the people and the sense of community here.
To name a few,
CPTBadAss, one of the newbs I picked up and has become a good friend.
JDcarpe, very relaxed, very community oriented.
Glissant, all around good son, husband, and community member. *tips hat*
Meeba, I liek teh M33bC45T!
i3oilermaker, very upstanding and professional business owner.
Esoomenona, very fun to chit chat with. Always funny to watch TJ and him banter.
TJCaustin, much the same as Moose, the two are a match made in heaven.
TheBeast, he gives me wood, steel, whatever material! (I'm a poet and didn't even know it)
Other members in the Chicagoland area for making the Meetup a great success and tons of fun.
Also a tip of the hat to the admins, mods, and other assorted helpers. I recall being a mod and it was often thankless, and quite a handful when Ripster started running around to post all sorts of things.
(If I missed you, I didn't mean to! This site is like my home and I'm happy to be here with everyone!)

Let me see.. CPTBadAss is awesome for helping me out with my case. WFD is awesome for designing all those plates, and for being really helpful in general. jdcarpe is awesome for putting so much time into GH60, okooko is awesome for being the single best trader I have ever dealt with and The King Klaxon is awesome for paying tribute to King Photekq. rarar is a pretty cool guy too

There are tonnes of cool, awesome people here that I haven't mentioned. This community is far more tightly knit than any other I have been a member of, and I'm glad to be a part of it.

Guize....I'm blushing so much. :-[  Thanks for mentioning me so much :-*

A short list of people who I've come to like or I think make GH and the hobby fun: Acetrak (my CAD partner), SmallFry (my keyboard professor), the Keybros I met at the Chicago Meet, Missalaire (she makes fun of my bedtime), moonprismpwr (really cool girl to chat with), Glissant (my Norse bro and all around cool dude), meeba (dude likes boards and music, my kinda people), dubsgalore (helping me put that CMOY through its paces), metalliqaz (DIY or die), akimbo (Alps Master), The_Beast (for giving me a chance to work on my first custom project on GH), Binge (Coffee good), and Jocelyn (She likes ink and boards, also my kinda people).

If I missed anyone I'm sorry and you're all badass. Anyone who I've worked with on a project (Photekq that case better come out this summer) is awesome. And I'm fond of the IRC people as well.

Oh and of course the great and wise Girlshark Wizbro. All praise to the Halverson :P

Well thenk you sir BadAss.  I am also quite fond of what you bring to this community.  BroCaps is also one helluva guy.  A real perfectionist and for the people even if they're me :)  Means a lot to be a part of such an active group of people.

I'd say some of the nicest people I've ever met online frequent this place.  Regardless of some of the drama someone always manages to make me smile.  jwaz, Glissant, Moonprism, and dat KingKlax- matt3o, ron, jdc, and omfg I could go on.  Really really get warm fuzzies from this place :-}

The first person id like to mention is kempher, he is an awesome person. I took his keyboard in to do some modifications I don't know how long ago, I've had trouble with the plate and stabilizers and have had to send to a couple different people and get help (WFD and mimic, thanks guys) and he has been awesome about the time it has taken. Thanks kempher.

I'd also like to thank mimicmimic for also answering my endless stupid questions and talking about keyboards for hours with me :D, definitely become a good friend of mine and is an awesome person for sure.

Jdcarpe, bunnylake, Jocelyn, paddywagon, kangarooz(I know that's not right, but I'm on my phone and in class :/) are all awesome for how generous and caring they are, always donating/helping/giving away their knowledge/items.

I also would like to say how nice and helpful cptbadass and regack have been designing my pointless and expensive "showcase", thanks guys.

I've met a lot of people on this website, and I've only met a couple that got on my nerves..

I've gotten a thousand posts pretty quick on here, and it has definitely taken up a lot of my time. But the people I've met and the knowledge I've gotten about something as simple as keyboards is amazing, thanks everyone.

Oh, I'm going to add one more awesome person of late. jdcarpe has been doing a lot of fighting the good fight, supporting community above all else. We need people like him if we want this to remain a fun place where everyone can take part (regardless of disposable income).

Just saw this thread just now. I've been under the weather, and not able to keep track of everything this weekend.

I want to thank everyone who mentioned my name. I love this community, and I try to help it when I can.

As for who is awesome here, well, just about everyone I have met here has something they contribute to make this community awesome. Even when I disagree with someone's opinion, it is almost unfailingly kept on a professional level, and never results in personal grudges or hard feelings.

I could make a list of awesome people, but it would almost read like a user list of the site. :)

I would also like to thank iMav and the admins, who keep this site up and running so we can have this community we all hold so dear.

Man, you're scaring me. A bowl of steamed brussel sprouts completely submerged in butter (I don't really do salt), it just don't get any better than that. When I was a kid I would tell my mom I wanted baby cabbages for dinner.

Try this and I promise you will never go back, and I hate mayonnaise. Take your corn on the cob, use mayonnaise instead of butter, then sprinkle it with LOTS of parmesean cheese.

I like brussel sprouts with salt and butter

Man, you're scaring me. A bowl of steamed brussel sprouts completely submerged in butter (I don't really do salt), it just don't get any better than that. When I was a kid I would tell my mom I wanted baby cabbages for dinner.

A tablespoon of oil in a saucepan, very hot, toss in the raw brussels sprouts and roll them around for a minute or two until they are just getting little black spots here and there on the leaves.

Then add half a cup of water and a dash of salt (huge cloud of steam), cover, turn down the heat, and finish cooking/steaming them for another 10 minutes.

Try it, you'll like it.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

another circlej*** thread?

oh well i know nobody thinks i am awesome, but that is understandable given i haven't once contributed to this community other than open up my wallet every time something awesome pops up. one day though, one day.....

on subject, i think we should all get together and give out metals or some sort of plaque to outstanding awesome group buy organizers. I mean i seriously don't envy those sorting and shipping things like Klaxon, Phantom Stuffs, DSA Retro, and lol the massive amount of GH60s sold--among even more group buys active.

Just so we're all clear, ladies, that small 5th leg thing was a joke!

It was nice to meet CPT. We had pho for dinner, which was my first time, and it was really good. Then we had some pretty damn good ice cream. He brought some boards along for me to check out. The FC700R that everyone seems to want is a solid board. He even brought along a gift, which he really didn't have to do.

And I think I am going to make that thread. I talked to missalaire about maybe the three of us doing something next time I'm here. And I've already floated the possibility of meeting meeba next month.

I also spoke with missalaire and I'm more than happy to drive to Pittsburgh to have another mini meetup. Just keep us posted ^__^

none of you are awesome. hatez <3
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I just came from the GH meet up in Silicon Valley with Mkawa, Hashbaz, Jesuswasazombie, Sth, and met DamienG, Samwisekoi, Cgbuen. I didn't get there till about 2:15. Mkawa called to see where I was as I pulled in the parking lot, just before the girls started dancing. Sure wish I had gotten there sooner. Really need to do this stuff a LOT more.

Whether or not I get the job, he was an awesome guy to meet with and just talk to and to get a letter of rec in the middle of lunch was awesome.  I'm not meeting with them until next month, but hopefully I'll have a job soon.  I'm feeling a lot like Charlie Day right now with the ob search, so something like that was just encouraging.
