Got my monthly delivery of cat food and cat litter... a total of 50 pounds combined (bulk of it is the litter, which is about the same size as a 40 pound container of Tidy Cat--we typically buy this stuff on the first since our money runs out really fast and we're both on disability). USPS proceeds to shove it in the parcel box about 100 yards from my apartment. Can't lift the cat litter because 1. the box is open thanks to the shipping and 2. I'm still in a decent amount of pain from the biopsy last friday (for those unaware, diabetics take longer to heal--which isn't normally much of a problem for me, because I heal rather fast compared to most, but not fast enough to fully recover from this type of procedure in just a week). Only solution? Have my mom bring her electric wheelchair out and help me carry it back.
Just two problems: there is no ramp to our apartment on that side of the building, and there is no ramp to the mail box. Meaning my mom had to go around three other buildings to get this stuff home, which is at the very least six times the distance from the mailbox to our apartment, all while trying to keep this stuff on a footrest half as wide and 1/3 as long as the box itself.
There's also the fact that I had to leave this stuff in an open parcel box well out of my sight, because you need a special key to remove the parcel box key once it is used. We're lucky they didn't get stolen (people steal the strangest things, but no one would have known what was in the boxes due to the way they were packed).
