Misleading Vegan Forest Facts
« on: Tue, 26 September 2017, 20:08:26 »
All them vegans love to talk about how 70% of deforestation is due to cattle-ranching.

Indeed, Brazil (amazon rain-forest) holds 15.43% of the world's beef market, right after USA (20%)

But here's the thing, 70 % of deforestation ,  sounds big because of the 70.

But the total deforested area is only about 20%..  So only ~14% of Total Amazon deforestation is utilized for Cattle ranching..

But the vegans LOVE that 70% number, because it makes it sound like we're cutting down 70% of the amazon for cattle..

This is the same type of information framing-tactic used by big tobacco when they wanted us to keep smoking..

So here are the facts:

The amazon rainforest is 5,500,000  square kilometers

The Cows are eating 538,254 square kilometers..

It's BIG,  but it's not AS big as the Vegans want you to believe..

So i guess the real truth is that 70% of the deforestation is for livestock farming. Only accounts for 14% of the total forest though its still significant.

This is exactly how it starts TP...

Next thing you'll be chaining yourself to a redwood tree, wearing patchouli oil and a hemp sweater.. lashing out at everyone who isn't you.

Unfortunately, these days many statistics put forth to sway public opinion on topics are very misrepresenting or outright untrue.

Always have to check the original sources and the methodology.

Ex:
50% of people require urgent medical attention.
*Survey conducted at hospital ER.

Maybe you should read this 2012 article on the Smithsonian Institution's website. And that was 5 years ago.

Don't misunderstand my intentions.

I have no doubt that the industries as is form an unsustainable clot that is killing the planet and us along with it.

However,  We must remain vigilant that Vegans are people, people who are equally capable of Distortion of facts,  WHICH in principle will only lead to the next set of Half-truths holding back Objective decision making.

It is human nature's limited capacity at play that generates these problems.

EVEN if we fix the meat industry overnight,  man would merely find the next exploitative act to feed its hedonistic mental-drive system..

Just as treating symptoms of heart-congestive failure/ diabetes/ stroke/ cancer with statins, insulin, chemo is not treating the underlying disease..

All Big-World ideals to curb consumption falls short of improving or rectifying man's self.
