Cherry G80-11900LUMEU-2 at work... Ugh
« on: Fri, 26 May 2017, 23:52:55 »
I work in a law enforcement office, and recently realized that one of our fingerprint stations uses this keyboard.  The left touchpad button was jammed, so they requested it get replaced.  I asked the guys over there to hold onto the keyboard for me, but they ended up throwing it away.  The keys themselves were almost unused, and had no shine to them.   I guess I'll have to be more proactive next time they need to get the keyboard replaced.

Just had to share, I'm working nights/weekends so I have nobody else to complain to at the moment.

Don't worry, when one door closes, another will open.  Normally it takes a while though.

Yeah, except this one had thick POM caps, not sucky hellgrau thin PBT.

How do I know? The "-2" in the code name.

I was wondering about that.  Besides.. I was just bummed that I wasn't taking a sweet (and free) keyboard home.

Well, I figured out where the keyboard went.  It was packed up in a box and stuck in a storage room.  Someone apparently remembered that I asked them not to throw it away.

The broken touchpad button is the only thing wrong with it - the button separated from the plastic tree that it would float on.  The only thing I think this keyboard needs are some O-rings.
