i recently picked up two hhkb. one for work (type-s); one for home. they are my second topre board, the first being the leopold f660c. the hhkb is quickly growing on me as the best keyboard.

i've always had the opinion that a new membrane keyboard feels best, but they wear out so quickly. i like the feel of mechanicals, but they hurt my ears, even the silent ones, because i bottom out. i've tried to avoid bottoming out, but it just happens when i type fast while chatting

whatever keyboard i use has got to be 60%. i liked the leopold, but it wasn't exactly 60% :p. i'm liking the hhkb layout a lot!

A friend dropped off a goody box. A Compaq g80-11801, 1391401 (x2), a couple of junkers which are already in the trash can, and this NEC APC-H412. These NEC blue oval switches are very nice.

Leximark 1995 1392595 Model M that was missing multiple keycaps. For all you perfectionists - no I don't think it's master craftsmanship, but it was fun to make. I painted the front plate but NO original Model M parts were harmed - the keystems are new ones I bought from Unicomp. The board now has lock lights thanks to Soarer.

I don't think anyone planned on criticizing you. This is Datamancer level craftsmanship and pretty amazing to see with a Model M as a base.

Thank you both for the kind comments! I was a fun project and I feel good that I didn't "destroy" an original Model M. All the original parts were saved intact and the board could be easily reassembled into its original form.

End game right here.

Uh, okay.
I'm still using the same keyboard I have posted over and over and over and over again.  Every time I see this thread I am compelled to say....

THE SAME KEYBOARD I HAVE BEEN USING.

End of rant.  Please resume.

Feels relatively soft, but this is more due to the heavier springs than I'm used to with the Gat blacks. Have new 55g springs on the way, and I'll be able to talk more fairly about it then. Also, the stabs I got for it are absolute trash, and I have some better ones coming in soon. This thing is feather light though. Almost feels fake when I pick it up.

The most fun thing about it is how much it throws off other people trying to use my board because I use the 'f' keycaps for the number row to give an extra splash of color.

Added the Doubleshot PBT caps from a Deck board to my Pok3r with White LED's and added 70A O rings to the MX Clears and i'm really digging the near silence of it all and the reduced travel makes the Clears far more tolerable.  Could see this being a new favorite as it's been on my desk for a few days now as I wrap up the Rantopad Review.

I can't seem to kick this HP Elite v2 off my desk for past few months. Suits my needs just fine and I fly on it with no wrist pain. Feels like a full size of  their HP EliteBook laptop keyboards. Perfect key travel distance for a scissor switch imo (I'd say about the same as Apple Aluminum) and best low-profile I've ever tried. Just wish it wasn't wireless and it had a caps-lock LED. Actually thinking of buying another to put away.

No photos on hand at the moment (I'm going to take a bunch of photos of my whole setup after I finalize a few things) but I am using a Ducky One TKL RGB I just got. MX Browns. I also have the Ducky Shine 4 Special Community edition which has clears for the main letters and browns around the edges, but I do like the feel of browns a little better. That said, this Ducky One TKL feels much better than my (also brown) Ducky Shine 3 (which I replaced to go TKL). Was not expecting that, and still not sure why it's the case, possibly the keycaps I guess.

I'm also trying out the Tai-Hao rubber gaming caps that I got from massdrop, but not really sure whether or not I like them. I like the rubber but not so sure about the texture. I'm waiting for a Hammer Starry Artisan keycap but right now my escape key is a cheap key with a Zerg logo on it :p I'm also keeping a sharp eye out for artisan keycap sales because I really love many of the designs and am looking forward to getting somewhat into that hobby. Might try my hand in making a few too.

Hey y'all! :D

This might seem like I'm trolling, but I'm just trying to leave a mark about my current situation and I'm planning to return after I get a new board to see how things turned out. :)
165265-0

So yeah, this is my "trusty" Trust GXT 18. It's pretty basic and it was cheap to match, but it still served me well(especially those rubberized keys) for several years even surviving a "deadly spill of milk". Now that I'm working as web developer and my work is getting hindered by the characters pealing off(more like the plastic itself) on some of the keys and because m hands get tired from hitting the hard rubber domes and I hope a light mechanical board can help me with this.

If anyone in interested in my search I made a thread about it here. https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=88424.0

Great looking board. It is good to see the beautiful symmetry of the HHKB layout emerge in new places with alternative switches to the original Topre.

wow.
can't tell if it's just the lighting or not, but the color of that plate goes so damn well with the wooden case. fantastic colors. +1 for the orange keycap!
immediately one of my favorite boards. the small gap between plate and case is so nice!
