Unrealistic typing rhythm in movies.
« on: Tue, 11 February 2020, 21:05:46 »
Scenes depicting texting entry have become common in movies.

There's a critical problem, the person typing is not performing in a natural rhythm. It's either too fast/ too slow. You can also often tell they are transcribing rather than actually voicing internally.

It bothers Tp4, because Gekhar's are prolly the only people who can observe and detect such phenomenon.

most of the one i have seen only type garbage for the sake of typing on a keyboard, so kudos to the actor who can type at the right rhythm to match text that may even be added in post.

although my sample size is low as i do not watch tv anymore, and very little films.

It does bother me too, but not nearly as much as the unrealistic usage of game controllers in TV shows and movies.

Heh, I remember the scene in True Lies, where Schwarzenegger was hacking into the system - standing over the keyboard, typing like a pro...

It's not just the speed, there's a flow to typing, and it's always very poorly staged. They just got a guy who knows how to type to type it, but they didn't explain to the guy, hey, feel the character's emotion, your hands are trembling, each keypress has just a hint of reticence.

It is bothersome, they could at least actually type a given text there so that they would automatically type in a natural manner, at a normal speed that doesn't bother the eye and doesn't hurt the ears.

The same goes when characters play video games in movies. They just mash random buttons as fast as possible and flick the joysticks erratically.

Also, every keyboard in movies is clicky for some reason, even when it's clearly a rubber dome.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

The world has become a weird place.
