Does the show ever fully explain why mulder/scully is allowed to continue - doing- what they do,  because it seems like if the parent office wants things Covered,  why let your other employees keep digging stuff up. ?

I sort-of understand that there may be a -faction- of the fbi/gov kept in exclusion of Alien-Info,  And this faction is sponsoring the investigation.

But if something as large and secretive as a Gov branch that can coverup / control information/ technology of aliens,  Surly there's No Other branch which could successfully challenge them .

And the Operational model of such branch of government would certainly be Leave No Witnesses..  Skully and Mulder would've been Murdered well before they ever got close to anything at all.

(Hopefully not performing an unholy ritual to resurrect a dead thread)

Watching a British classic: Yes Minister/Prime Minster

Takes some time (and is worth it) to get into the characters. Based on feedback from those in politics, it's a terrifyingly accurate documentary as much as a brilliant comedy.

Just caught up on Rising of the Shield Hero(debating reading since im an avid fan of both anime and manga), and lately I've been re-watching Archer for a good laugh. Currently grumbling because finding anime that suits my taste is difficult and every time I find one I burn through it in days(if that)

I went on vacation this last week and while riding in the van I watched the four-part series about the Ted Bundy tapes on Netflix. It was really good. Going to watch that movie they recently released next.

Been rewatching American Dad and season 7 is still one of the best written adult animation seasons ever made ever in my opinion. It's perfect comedy, they really hit their stride with season 6 and 7 making all the seasons surrounding them look like chumps.

Oh yeah where Stan gets sucked into the show, that was a great one. This season has been pretty good, SO much better than Family Guy and Simpsons which are basically unwatchable now. Simpsons is just horrible agenda-pushing unfunny garbage. And with Family Guy I don't get how two shows from the same creator could be so different in their writing quality. Maybe because American Dad is on a bcb network? But I dunno why that would make such a difference.

Finished "Chernobyl" and it was awesome, although it was a colossal downer.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Hrrrrmm..

I have not read the original material and so am not familiar with the author's main tenets.

Are they blaming the system of Soviet leadership or the very existence of Lies,  which are merely necessary components of interaction.

All statements are portions of the truth, informationally imperfect and incomplete. The division between truth and falsehood is arbitrary. It can be open to interpretation of the intention and consequence.

Overall everything about the show is good. Technical wrap up is well done, but the profoundness they try to impart at the end is rather unsuccessful, at best superficial and detached..

What I took away was that it could have been easily avoided, and future incidents avoided, with a rather simple technological repair job, but the Central Committee refused to do it for reasons of (relatively minor) cost.

That seems unimaginably cruel and short-sighted, but look at the efforts that the Republicans have put into climate denial and the dismantling of the EPA ....

Chernobyl,  this is the series you need to watch. Damn, HBO has nailed this time.

I agree it's a great show,  keep in mind there's some anti-soviet agenda on part of the source material and the show's plot.

So, that's a form of prejudice.

All large governments and corporations behave recklessly when put under the Retrospective Lens, regardless if it's democratic/ communist/ socialist/ fascist/ etc

Primary caused by the awareness limit of all individuals involved.  Each person's blindsight will compound until a very nonoptimal decision is made.

Fukushima would probably be a documentary ,  Chernobyl is the only one that can be made into a drama.

Westworld looks super gud' in 4K HDR. !!

Although, overall there's 2 much unnecessary noodity, and secs stuff in hbo shows,  Every 5-10 minutes one must turn away from the screen because of it.

There are some great ideas in Westworld, but the writing isn't as tightly written or revelatory. I can see what they're going for, but the "oomph" isn't there.

Season 1 is lackluster. Nothing happens for the first five episodes.

I can't even imagine how empty the Season 2 is then.

Hah - fair critique.  I wasn't bored by Season 1, but I can see how you were.  The world building and general concept was engaging enough to keep my attention at the beginning until the story started to pick up.  But I will admit, it took me at least two attempts to really get into Season 1, so I certainly can't blame you for giving up.  :)

I've finished the first season. It was a weird sense of accomplishment. Not as strong as when I sat through The Lady In The Van, but still.

Haha, if you had to work to finish Season 1, don't even try Season 2.  :))  What's your final verdict?  Worth it even a little bit, or filled with regret?

Verdict: good special effects!
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Chernobyl and Stranger Things 3. Chernobyl is the best series I've watched in recent times. The stranger was good before but I found season 3 was a bit slow and repetitive. You can watch these series online on platforms.  https://www.allstreamingsites.com/sites-to-watch-tv-shows-online-free/

I watched a movie on Netflix called Mauldie.
Very sad story, but I really liked it, cried like a baby, as it was pretty sad and after watching it it puts you into perspective, you realises again, what kind of thiings are really important in your live...
