Humidity (Updat Tsu, Oem vs Aftermarket)
« on: Sun, 07 February 2021, 09:58:15 »

Results are in,

Aftermarket filter ________ 303ml / hour

OEM filter ______________417ml/ hour

That's +37%

Overall, this humidifier model is slightly more efficient than ultrasonic @ 35watts to do 417ml/hour,
11.91 (ml/h)/watt

but it is (Less) efficient if using the aftermarket-filter.
8.66 (ml/h)/watt

Ultrasonic did 260ml/hour @ 25 watts. 10.4 (ml/h)/ watt

Tp4 only tested the lowest fan speed because the higher speeds are super too loud.

This is the only acceptable loudness @ 44 db.

Already feel dat moisssssssss.

Will be doing oem vs aftermarket filter comparison, stay-tuned.

Vans are heavy and have good ground clearance so should carry on with a bit of snow.  That you have to ask suggests snow is not a common occurrence though so maybe you're out of luck, if I couldn't make out the pavement from the road I know I wouldn't get anything here.

Hrrrm.. settled snow density is only 1/3 that of water, require a huge tank to evaporate snow.   The energy cost might not be worth it.

It's here, moissssssssss

Tp4 bought also the aftermarket filter,  Will be doing comparison between OEM filter and Aftermarket.

The OEM wick filter is 500g weight, the Aftermarket is 200g,  so yea it is lighter, but we'll see if that makes any huge performance difference.

The top round hole is an intake, it pushes the air against the wick, and moisss out the front slanted slots.

~44 db @ 1 meter.   Acceptable noise lvl, it's a gentle woosh, nothing high pitched.  Overall good design.

Supposedly it can do 2700sqft, but that's bullsh, because the highest fan speed sound lvl goes jet engine. No one would conceivably run that daily.

Fill-up is easier than anticipated, it takes 6 gallons, So just take a plastic organizer tub in the sink and that's ~3 gallons, 1, 2, fill.

tp should do a write up on air purifiers, it's a great rabbit hole

Sometimes I'll spend entire evenings comparing air purifier stats for hours like a maniac

Tp4 has been down that hole.

Specifically, air purification is useful for SINGLE enclosed room only.  It's not practical to do large spaces because of leaks.

HVAC also pulls in about 30-45% of outside air, This is a building requirement, there's NOTHING you can do about this.  So you're just burning money trying to do the whole house against its' very design.

If you tried to filter the 45% of incoming outside air the filter cost is ENORMOUS.

although it is impressive that with less than half the material they manage to only drop a quarter of the performances, if it was 300g it may have made the whole system even more efficient.

A few days with this thing. Love it.  With some slight modifications, made air guides from tape, upped the total output to 500ml/hour, +20% .

It was leaking alot of airflow on the two sides and top of the filter holder.

The unit is very open and easy to clean.  The Ultrasonic had so many little crevices and places where the hand can't get into, this one is just 1 big tub.

No white dust everywhere this is hugely beneficial.
